  1. 21. Fundamental Studies on Direct Injection Nebulisers for Sample Introduction in ICP Spectrometry : Aerosol Properties, ICP Characteristics and Analytical Performance

    Author : Daniel Goitom Asfaha; Wolfgang Frech; Ralph Edward Sturgeon; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ICP; ICP-MS; ICP-OES; sample introduction; DIHEN; Vulkan DIN; non-spectral interferences; noise power spectra; analytical precision; plasma diagnostic parameters; particle dynamic analysis PDA ; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : The performance of different types of nebulisers: Vulkan direct injection nebuliser (Vulkan DIN), direct injection high efficiency nebuliser (DIHEN), microconcentric nebuliser coupled to cyclonic or double pass spray chamber (MCN-C or MCN-DP, respectively) was investigated and compared when used for sample introduction to ICP-MS or ICP-OES. With ICP-OES, in axial viewing mode, intensity distributions across the radius of the plasma (radial intensity profiles) were determined for different spectral lines with Esum 1. READ MORE

  2. 22. Spatio-temporal processing of surface electromyographic signals : information on neuromuscular function and control

    Author : Christer Grönlund; Leif Sörnmo; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; EMG; multichannel surface electromyography; motor unit action potentials; conduction velocity; muscle architecture; signal quality; spatial distributions; synchronization; muscle function; motor control; biomedicinsk strålningsvetenskap; Biomedical Radiation Science;

    Abstract : During muscle contraction, electrical signals are generated by the muscle cells. The analysis of those signals is called electromyography (EMG). The EMG signal is mainly determined by physiological factors including so called central factors (central nervous system origin) and peripheral factors (muscle tissue origin). READ MORE

  3. 23. Algorithms and Complexity for Temporal and Spatial Formalisms

    Author : Thomas Drakengren; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The problem of computing with temporal information was early recognised within the area of artificial intelligence, most notably the temporal interval algebra by Allen has become a widely used formalism for representing and computing with qualitative knowledge about relations between temporal intervals. However, the computational properties of the algebra and related-formalisms are known to be bad: most problems (like satisfiability) are NP-hard. READ MORE

  4. 24. Spectral and Temporal Studies of Gamma-Ray Bursts

    Author : Luis Borgonovo; Claes-Ingvar Björnsson; Jerry Fishman; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Astronomy and astrophysics; Astronomi och astrofysik; Astronomy; astronomi;

    Abstract : Gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are sporadic flashes of light observed primarily in the gamma-ray band. Being the brightest explosions in the Universe since its birth, they are at present also the furthest astronomical sources detected. READ MORE

  5. 25. Local spatio-temporal image features for motion interpretation

    Author : Ivan Laptev; KTH; []
    Keywords : computer vision; motion; recognition; scale-space;

    Abstract : Visual motion carries information about the dynamics of ascene. Automatic interpretation of this information isimportant when designing computer systems forvisualnavigation, surveillance, human-computer interaction, browsingof video databases and other growing applications. READ MORE
