1. When, Where and What : The Development of Perceived Spatio-Temporal Continuity
Abstract : This thesis explored the development of infants’ ability to preserve spatio-temporal continuity of moving objects in situations where they disappeared completely (Study I & II) or partially (Study III) behind other objects (occluders). We recorded infants gaze direction with the help of two different techniques: 1) infants’ gaze shifts in Study I were measured with electro-oculogram (EOG) in combination with a motion analyzing system (Qualisys) that recorded the reflected infrared light from markers placed on the infant’s head and the moving object; 2) in Studies II and III a cornea reflection eye tracker was used (Tobii 1750) . 2. Composing over time, temporal patterns : in Textile Design
Abstract : The work presented in this thesis is a first attempt investigating a new field, exploring the visual effects of movement using light as a continuous time-based medium. Composing over time, temporal patterns - in Textile Design is a practice based research project that investigates the following research question: What does it mean, if time and change – constant movement – becomes part of the textile design expression? The research question has been investigated in a number of experiments that explore the visual effects of movement using light integrated into textile structures as a medium. READ MORE

3. Composing over time, temporal patterns : in Textile Design
Abstract : The work presented in this thesis investigates through practice a new field of textile design exploring the visual effects of moving light as a continuous time-based medium. Thereby, the textile design pattern reveals its composition, not in one moment of time any more, but in fact over time. READ MORE

4. Spatial-Temporal Patterns of Urban Growth in Shanghai, China: Monitoring, Analysis, and Simulation
Abstract : Supporting huge population, megacities are definitely the hot spots of production, consumption, and waste generation. Without careful investment and planning, megacities will be overwhelmed by burgeoning negative impacts on the environment, natural resources, and human health, as well as a host of social and economic issues. 5. Temporal representation of Motor Imagery : towards improved Brain-Computer Interface-based strokerehabilitation
Abstract : Practicing Motor Imagery (MI) with a Brain-Computer Interface (BCI) has shown promise in promoting motor recovery in stroke patients. A BCI records a person’s brain activity and provides feedback to the person in real time, which allows the person to practice his or her brain activity. READ MORE
