  1. 11. Body movement as material : Designing temporal expressions

    Author : Linnea Bågander; Clemens Thornquist; Lise Amy Hansen; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Design; body; body as material; fashion design; performing arts; temporal form; practice-led research; design methods; motion design; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Abstract : Movement and temporal qualities have a significant effect on design expressions. However, in the design of dress these are often overlooked, and the static form of a positioned body is considered to be the main driver of design. This work explores the expressions of the body in motion, engaged in the interaction constituted by wearing. READ MORE

  2. 12. WomenWeave Daily : "Artisan Fashion" as "Slow and Sustainable Fashion"

    Author : David Goldsmith; Kate Fletcher; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Artisan Fashion; Artisan Textiles; Slow Fashion; Handloom; Heritage Craft; Artisan Economy; Social Enterprise; Khadi; Design Management; Fashion Management; Textile Management; Activity Theory; Business Model Canvas.; Handgjort mode; hantverkstillverkade textilier; långsamt mode; handvävning; kulturellt hantverk; hantverksekonomi; socialt företagande; khadi; Design Management; management inom modesektorn; management inom textiltillverkning; Aktivitetsteori; Business Model Canvas.; Textil och mode generell ; Textiles and Fashion General ;

    Abstract : As awareness has grown of the detrimental, often lethal, aspects of fashion production and use, so too has a global movement to diminish its environmental harms and mediate its social exploitation. In all types of commercial, academic, and popular discourse about fashion, words such as eco-friendly, green, ethical, fair, and slow -- the last being a catch-all term for all things “not fast fashion”-- are ubiquitous. 3. 13. Textile Influence : exploring the relationship between textiles and products in the design process

    Author : Linnéa Nilsson; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Smart textiles; textile print; thermo chromic print; dynamic patterns; material composites; complexity; design practice; design tools; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Abstract : Textile materials and textile design are a part of countless products in our surroundings,as well as diverse design fields and industries, each of which has very different materialtraditions and working methods. The aim of this thesis is to add to our understandingof the relationship between textiles and products in the design process, and to explorehow textiles enter and influence product design processes and how products functionin textile design processes. 4. 14. Smells: olfactive dimension in designing textile architecture

    Author : Jyoti Kapur; Clemens Thornquist; Delia Dumitrescu; Astrid Mody; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; smells; touch; movement; textiles; architecture; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Abstract : Designing with non-visual attributes challenges ways of representation. This research explores methods for designing with invisible materiality within the research practice, as well as ways of representation through textiles when designing spaces. Exploring textiles and smells within a space, the research program investigates spatial interactions. READ MORE

  5. 15. Surface patterns, spatiality and pattern relations in textile design

    Author : Tonje Kristensen Johnstone; Högskolan i Borås; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Surface patterns; textile design; spatiality; spatial definers; design variables; pattern relations; conceptual spatial determinations; Textiles and Fashion Design ; Textil och mode konstnärlig ;

    Abstract : This licentiate thesis focuses on surface patterns, spatiality, and pattern relations in textile design, and aims to explore surface patterns as spatial definers and what they mean in the context of surface patterns. A secondary focus relates to applying conceptual spatial determinations as alternative design variables in design processes, and exploring how these could be used to define and analyse pattern relations.
