1. TGF-beta signaling in cancer
Abstract : Transforming Growth Factor Beta (TGF-β) is a cytokine regulating a wide range of cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, and migration. At the early stages of cancer development TGF-β functions as a tumor suppressor, mainly due to its inhibitory effect on cellular growth, but during cancer progression, mutations in TGF-β signal components switches TGF-β into a promoter of cancer cell proliferation, survival and metastasis. 2. Studies of human endogenous retroviruses and of the TGF-beta signaling pathway
Abstract : The human genome, in common with all mammalian genomes, carries a high load of inheritable retroviral sequences. We have identified and characterized a novel family of these endogenous retroviruses and have named this family HERV-F as based on the primer binding sites of three members. READ MORE

3. Heparan sulfate dependent cell signaling and associated pathophysiology : Implications in tumorigenesis and embryogenesis
Abstract : Heparan sulfate proteoglycans (HSPGs) consist of a protein core to which several linear, negatively charged heparan sulfate (HS) chains are covalently attached. HSPGs are expressed on the cell surface and in the extra-cellular matrix (ECM) where they have diverse biological functions, for example co-receptor functions. READ MORE

4. Notch Signaling in Neuroblastoma and Renal Cell Carcinoma
Abstract : The Notch signaling pathway governs cell functions essential for normal development and organogenesis. Aberrant Notch signaling has been implicated in tumorigenesis by perturbing control of proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, migration and angiogenesis. READ MORE

5. Statistical and Functional Analysis of Genomic and Proteomic Data
Abstract : High-throughput technologies have led to an explosion in the availability of data at the genome scale. Such data provide important information about cellular processes and causes of human diseases, as well as for drug discovery. Deciphering the biologically relevant results from these data requires comprehensive analytical methods. READ MORE
