Abstract : A treatment strategy for cancer is the suppression of tumor growth by directing an immune response to the tumor vessels, which will destroy the tissue. In this thesis we describe the development of a vaccine that targets antigens expressed around angiogenic vasculature in most solid tumors. 2. 2. Therapeutic Cancer Vaccines Targeting Molecules Associated with Tumor Angiogenesis

Author : Julia Femel; Anna-Karin Olsson; Grietje (Ingrid) Molema; Uppsala universitet; []

Abstract : Induction of an endogenous antibody response by therapeutic vaccination could provide an alternative to cost-intensive monoclonal antibody-based treatments for cancer. Since the target of a cancer vaccine will most likely be a self-antigen, self-tolerance of the immune system must be circumvented. READ MORE

  3. 3. Immunohistochemical study of rats receiving peripheral immunization with IFNg transfected glioma cells

Author : Anna Darabi; Neurokirurgi; []

Abstract : Malignant glioma is, with rare exceptions in younger adults, an uncurable brain tumor, as very few survive more than 1-2 years after diagnosis. Despite advances in recent years, current treatments such as surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy only prolongs the life of the patients. READ MORE

Abstract : Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease, characterized by the accumulation of lipids and fibrous tissue in the wall of medium and large-sized arteries. The characteristic culprit of the disease is the atheroma, or atherosclerotic plaque, a patchy thickening of the arterial wall which affects the lumen, inducing various degrees of stenosis. READ MORE
