  1. 1. Studies on the thermal degradation of thermosetting polyimides and their composites

    Author : Valeri Petkov; Patrik Fernberg; Guan Gong; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Polymer composites; Polyimide; Thermal oxidative degradation; Polymeric Composite Materials; Polymera kompositmaterial;

    Abstract : The thesis contains a background and reflections section, an introduction, and three appended articles. The first section is reserved for some of the background and basics on polymers and polymer composites and a discussion on their effect on our everyday lives. The introduction gives a brief recap of the project. READ MORE

  2. 2. Induction heating of carbon fibre reinforced polymer composites : Characterization and modelling

    Author : Fredrik Lundström; Industriell Produktion; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Carbon fibre reinforced polymers; Induction heating; Material characterization; Thermal properties; Electrical conductivity; Numerical modelling;

    Abstract : Carbon fibre reinforced polymers (CFRP) are lightweight materials with great potential due to their high strength and stiffness relative to their weight. This enables weight reduction in, for example, vehicles, which is important in reducing energy consumption. READ MORE

  3. 3. Thermally cured coil-coatings utilizing novel resins and fatty acid methyl esters as reactive diluents

    Author : Katarina Johansson; Mats Johansson; Rolf van Benthem; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Coatings; Coil-coatings; Thermal cure; Reactive diluents; Fatty acids; Transesterification; Hyperbranched polyester resins; Film properties; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : Solvent-borne thermally cured coil-coating resins contain large amounts of volatile organic solvents in order to obtain suitable flow for film application. This work describes how the expensive and environmental hazardous volatile organic solvent content of a solvent-borne thermally cured polyester/melamine coil-coating system can be reduced by introduction of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) as reactive diluents and modification of the polyester binder resin. 4. 4. Effect of light power density variation on dental light-cure resin composites

    Author : Nazanin Emami; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine Elements; Maskinelement; Polymeric Composite Materials; Polymera konstruktionsmaterial;

    Abstract : Dental resin based composites are tooth-colored filling materials composed of synthetic resins and particulate ceramic reinforcing filler particles. The resin system also contains molecules that promote and/or modify the polymerisation reaction of the dimethacrylate resin monomers. READ MORE

  5. 5. Variables affecting stress development and resin conversion in light-cured dental composites

    Author : Nazanin Emami; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Machine Elements; Maskinelement; Polymeric Composite Materials; Polymera konstruktionsmaterial;

    Abstract : The general aim of this dissertation was to identify and investigate factors that can be used to minimize stress development in light cured dental resins without compromising the conversion level of the polymer. Modulus of elasticity, polymerization contraction strain, degree of conversion and shrinkage of light-cure dental composites were determined after curing with three different light power densities where total irradiated energy (J/cm2) kept constant.
