16. Determination of Volatile Hydrocarbons in Urban Air
Abstract : In the complex hydrocarbon mixture in urban air, the alkenes and arenes are of particular interest with respect to impact on health and environment. Knowledge of hydrocarbon concentrations in urban air is essential for the assessment and prevention of health hazards and photochemical oxidant formation. READ MORE

17. Nonlinear optical techniques for ultrafast laser diagnostics : Development of femtosecond LIF, LIGS, CARS and backward lasing
Abstract : The thesis work concerns development and application of four versatile nonlinear optical techniques, based on exploiting ultrashort laser pulses, for diagnostic purposes in gases and flames. The four techniques, all laser-based, are two-photon laser-induced fluorescence (TPLIF), hybrid femtosecond/nanosecond (fs/ns) rotational coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (fs/ns RCARS), fs-laser-induced grating spectroscopy (fs-LIGS), and backward lasing. 18. Electronic Structure of π-Conjugated Materials and Their Effect on Organic Photovoltaics
Abstract : The great tunability of structure and electronic properties of π-conjugated organic molecules/polymers combined with other advantages such as light weight and flexibility etc., have made organic-based electronics the focus of an exciting still-growing field of physics and chemistry for more than half a century. 19. Designed boron chemistry for tribological systems
Abstract : Boron compounds can be environmentally friendly alternatives for commercially available lubricant additives. Some boron compounds are already used as friction modifiers, corrosion inhibitors, antioxidants and antiwear additives in lubricants. READ MORE

20. Synthesis of Carbon-based and Metal-Oxide Thin Films using High Power Impulse Magnetron Sputtering
Abstract : The work presented in this thesis deals with synthesis of carbon-based as well as metal-oxide thin films using highly ionized plasmas. The principal deposition method employed was high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS). READ MORE
