16. Thermal Barrier Coatings : Failure Mechanisms and Life Prediction
Abstract : Thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) use in the hot sections of gas turbine engine enables them to run at higher temperatures, and as a consequence, achieve higher thermal efficiency. For full operational exploitation of TBCs, understanding their failure and knowing the service life is essential. READ MORE

17. Concrete creep and thermal stresses : new creep models and their effects on stress development
Abstract : This thesis deals with the problem of creep in concrete and its influence on thermal stress development. New test frames were developed for creep of high performance concrete and for measurements of thermal stress development. Tests were performed on both normal strength and high performance concretes. 18. Thermal conductivity of wide and ultra-wide bandgap semiconductors
Abstract : This PhD thesis presents experimental and theoretical studies of the thermal conductivity of wide and ultra-wide bandgap semiconductors including GaN, AlN, β-Ga2O3 binary compounds, and AlxGa1−xN, ScxAl1−xN, YxAl1−xN ternary alloys. Thermal conductivity measurements are conducted using the transient thermoreflectance (TTR) technique and the results are interpreted using analytical models based on the solution of the Boltzmann transport equation (BTE) within the relaxation time approximation (RTA). 19. Modelling and Simulation of Thermal Radiation in Biomass Combustion
Abstract : This thesis presents numerical investigations and simulations of fixed bed combustion of wood, models for predicting thermal radiative properties of particles and gases related to the combustion of wood, and a review of heat load calculations in gas turbines. All subjects have a common factor in thermal radiation. READ MORE

20. Thermal crack estimation in early age concrete : models and methods for practical application
Abstract : Control of thermal cracking in young concrete is of great importance to ensure a desired service life time and function of a structure. Making reliable thermal stress estimations, and thereby conclusions about cracking risks, involves advanced modelling of material properties and structural restraint. READ MORE
