  1. 11. Design of Microstructures in Thermal Barrier Coatings : A Modelling Approach

    Author : Mohit Kumar Gupta; Per Nylén; Robert Vaβen; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermal barrier coatings; microstructure; thermal conductivity; Young‘s modulus; lifetime; finite element modelling; design; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : Plasma sprayed Thermal Barrier Coating systems (TBCs) are commonly used for thermal protection of components in modern gas turbine application such as power generation, marine and aero engines. The material that is most commonly used in these applications is Yttria Stabilized Zirconia (YSZ) because of this ceramic’s favourable properties, such as low thermal conductivity, phase stability to high temperature, and good erosion resistance. Abstract : The thermoelectric effect was discovered nearly 200 years ago, but it started to be utilized for waste heat recovery fairly recently. From the economical point of view, such application requires a cheap and efficient material, which is able to convert heat energy into electricity. READ MORE

  3. 13. Functional Performance of Gadolinium Zirconate/Yttria Stabilized Zirconia Multi-Layered Thermal Barrier Coatings

    Author : Satyapal Mahade; Per Nylén; Nicolaie Markocsan; Högskolan Väst; []

    Abstract : Today, the energy used for the heating and cooling of offices, shopping centres, schools, residential areas, andother buildings is as large as 50% of the total energy consumption in the world. The climate change, globalwarming, and environmental issues have forced high requirements for energy efficiency and clean energyproduction in buildings. READ MORE

    Abstract : Nanofluids as an innovative class of heat transfer fluids created by dispersing nanometre-sizedmetallic or non-metallic particles in conventional heat transfer fluids displayed the potential toimprove the thermophysical properties of the heat transfer fluids. The main purpose of this study is toinvestigate the influence of the use of nanofluids on two-phase heat transfer, particularly on thethermal performance of the heat pipes. READ MORE
