  1. 1. A microfluidic toolbox to fabricate, sort and characterize thermoresponsive colloidal molecules and their assemblies

    Author : Feifei Peng; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microgels; Thermoresponsive Colloidal Molecules; Microfluidics; Self-Assembly; Microgels; Thermoresponsive Colloidal Molecules; Microfluidics; Self-Assembly;

    Abstract : In this thesis we discuss the assembly of thermoresponsive microgel particles into small clusters, and their use as colloidal molecules with specific and directional interactions. The underlying goal is to use these particles as advanced building blocks for new types of self- assembled structures with novel or vastly improved properties, and as model particles for investigating fundamental problems in condensed matter physics. 2. 2. Polymers in Aqueous Lubrication

    Author : Junxue An; Per M. Claesson; Martin Malsten; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lubrication; boundary lubrication; friction; surface forces; adsorption; adsorption hysteresis; non-equilibrium state; diblock copolymer; polyelectrolyte; thermoresponsive; mucin; QCM-D; ellipsometry; AFM; Kemi; Chemistry;

    Abstract : The main objective of this thesis work was to gain understanding of the layer properties and polymer structures that were able to aid lubrication in aqueous media. To this end, three types of polyelectrolytes: a diblock copolymer, a train-of-brushes and two brush-with-anchor mucins have been utilized. READ MORE
