1. Optimal thinning : a theoretical investigation on individual-tree level
Abstract : Paper I: In paper I, we asked how a tree should optimally allocate its resources to maximize its fitness. We let a subject tree grow in an environment shaded by nearby competing trees. The competitors were assumed to have reached maturity and had stopped growing, thus creating a static light environment for the subject tree to grow in. READ MORE

2. Evaluating thinning practices and assessment methods for improved management in coniferous production forests in southern Sweden
Abstract : Most of our knowledge about wood production of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) and Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) and associated silvicultural guidelines are based on field experiments. READ MORE

3. Effects of forest management on greenhouse gas fluxes in a boreal forest
Abstract : Forest ecosystems cover 31% of the terrestrial land area and store large amounts of carbon in biomass and in soils. The 2015 Paris Agreement recognizes the importance of sinks and reservoirs of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in forests and the importance of enhancing them through sustainable forest management policies. 4. Predator effects on behaviour and life-history of prey
Abstract : In this thesis I investigate predator-induced effects on behavioural and life-history characteristics of prey. At any moment a given predator is capable of attacking a small number of prey. READ MORE

5. Injectable Composite Hydrogels Based on Metal-Ligand Assembly for Biomedical Applications
Abstract : This thesis presents new strategies to construct injectable hydrogels and their various biomedical applications, such as 3D printing, regenerative medicine and drug delivery. These hydrogels cross-linked by dynamic metal-ligand coordination bonds exhibit shear-thinning and self-healing properties, resulting in the unlimited time window for injection. READ MORE
