1. Adaptive Design for Circular Business Models in the Automotive Manufacturing Industry
Abstract : The vision of a circular economy (CE) promises both profitability and eco-sustainability to industries, and can, from a material and energy resource flow perspective, be operationalized by combining three business and design strategies: closing loops; narrowing and slowing down resource flows by material recycling, improving resource efficiency; and by extending product life by reuse, upgrades and remanufacturing. These three strategies are straightforward ways for industries to radically reduce their use of virgin resources. READ MORE

2. On endothelial function in type 2 diabetic patients with coronary artery disease
Abstract : Patients with type 2 diabetes have a poor outcome suffering a myocardial infarction (MI). Endothelial dysfunction may play a role in this poor prognosis. In type 2 diabetes, endothelial dysfunction is a salient feature coexisting with obesity and insulin resistance and may be linked by the same pathophysiology, i.e. READ MORE

3. The Skorohod problem and weak approximation of stochastic differential equations in time-dependent domains
Abstract : This thesis consists of a summary and four scientific articles. All four articles consider various aspects of stochastic differential equations and the purpose of the summary is to provide an introduction to this subject and to supply the notions required in order to fully understand the articles. 4. On the role of small regulatory molecules in the interplay between σ54- and σ70-dependent transcription
Abstract : Signal responsive transcriptional control in bacteria is mediated through both specific and global regulatory circuits to attune promoter output to prevailing conditions. Divergent transcription of a regulatory gene and a cognate promoter under its control provides an opportunity for interplay between transcription dependent on RNA polymerases utilizing various σ-factors, each of which programs the holoenzyme to recognize different classes of promoters. 5. Insulin-Degrading Enzyme : A link between insulin resistance and Alzheimer's disease
Abstract : Background: Prior research has demonstrated an elevated risk of Alzheimer's disease (AD) among individuals diagnosed with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). Insulin resistance is a potential common link between these conditions, and it is associated with AD due to the insulin-degrading enzyme (IDE), which also degrades amyloid-β (Aβ) in the brain.
