1. Spontaneous and stimulated X-ray Raman scattering
Abstract : The present thesis is devoted to theoretical studies of resonant X-ray scattering and propagation of strong X-ray pulses. In the first part of the thesis the nuclear dynamics of different molecules is studied using resonant X-ray Raman and resonant Auger scattering techniques. READ MORE

2. Pedestal structure and stability in JET-ILW and comparison with JET-C
Abstract : Controlled thermonuclear fusion offers a promising concept for safe and sustainable production of electrical energy. However, there are still many issues to be investigated on the way to a commercial fusion reactor. An important point for detailed studies is connected to wall materials surrounding hot thermonuclear plasma. READ MORE

3. Laser-Matter Interactions at Extreme Irradiance: X-ray Generation and Relativistic Channelling
Abstract : This thesis summarizes experimental work in which the powerful Ti:sapphire lasers at the High Power Laser Facility at the Lund Laser Centre have been employed to investigate laser-produced X-rays and relativistic channelling. These lasers produce short pulses, of the order of 50 fs, with energies ranging from 1 mJ to 1 J. READ MORE

4. An experimental investigation of electron confinement in reversed-field pinches
Abstract : Experimental studies aimed at an improved understanding ofelectron confinement in reversed-field pinch (RFP) plasmas arepresented. Different diagnostic methods have been employed:Thomson scattering and soft x-ray continuum measurements wereused to detect ektrons in the core of the plasma, x-rayemission from an insertable target was used to detect energeticelectrons in the edge region. 5. Diagnostics for advanced fusion plasma scenarios
Abstract : Over the past decade, fusion research has showed the potential of being a main candidate for energy production for future generations. Further advances in improved fusion performance are therefore vital. This thesis focuses on advanced fusion plasma scenarios and their diagnostic requirements. READ MORE
