  1. 1. Quiescent cancer cells : Three-dimensional cell models for evaluation of new therapeutics

    Author : Frida Ek; Mårten Fryknäs; Malin Jarvius; Rolf Larsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cancer; cancer cell quiescence; dormancy; three-dimensional; multicellular tumor spheroids; model development; cancer pharmacology; mitochondria; OXPHOS; colorectal carcinoma; hepatocellular carcinoma; Medicinsk vetenskap; Medical Science;

    Abstract : Inadequate metabolic conditions in solid tumors lead to the formation of quiescent cancer cells that are suspended in a transient cell cycle arrest. When conditions change, quiescent cancer cells can re-enter the cell cycle and cause recurrence. READ MORE

  2. 2. Three-dimensional ultrasound studies of normal and abnormal ovaries

    Author : Ligita Jokubkiene; gynekologisk och prenatal ultraljudsdiagnostik Obstetrisk; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ovary; ovarian follicle; ovarian neoplasms; ultrasonography; three-dimensional imaging; Doppler ultrasound imaging; vascular morphology;

    Abstract : The aims of this work were: 1) to estimate the number of follicles, ovarian volume and power Doppler vascular indices and their changes with age using three-dimensional (3D) transvaginal grey-scale and power Doppler ultrasound in asymptomatic women of fertile age either with natural menstrual cycles or using combined oral contraceptives, and 2) to determine whether tumour vascularity, assessed by 3D power Doppler ultrasound, can help discriminate between benign and malignant ovarian tumours. A group of 303 gynaecologically asymptomatic women, aged 20–39 years with normal menstrual cycles (NMC) and another group of 213 women aged 20–39 years using combined oral contraceptives (COC) were examined using two-dimensional (2D) and 3D transvaginal ultrasound once between cycle day 4 and 8. 3. 3. Three - dimensional ultrasound studies of the cervix in pregnancy

    Author : Linas Rovas; Malmö Institutionen för kliniska vetenskaper; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; Prostaglandin .; Labor induction .; Spontaneous delivery .; Pregnancy .; Cervix uteri .; Blood flow indices .; Doppler ultrasound .; Three-dimensional imaging .; sexuality; reproduction; Obstetrik; sexualitet; reproduktion; gynekologi; andrologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to evaluate cervical physiological changes by three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound during pregnancy and to investigate the ability of 3D power Doppler to predict time to spontaneous and induced delivery in prolonged pregnancy. The thesis is based on five studies: reproducibility of cervical measurements by 3D power Doppler ultrasound (study I), reference data representative normal findings of the cervix assessed by 3D ultrasound during pregnancy (studies II, III) and the ability of 3D power Doppler to predict time to spontaneous and induced delivery in prolonged pregnancy. 4. 4. 3D Rotational Angiography of Transplanted Renal Arteries : A Clinical and Experimental Study

    Author : Gaute Hagen; Anders Magnusson; Jonas Wadström; Jarl Jakobsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; Kidney; transplantation; renal angiography; renal arteries; stenosis or obstruction; imaging; three-dimensional; artifacts; Radiologisk forskning; Radiological research; Radiologisk forskning;

    Abstract : Three-dimensional rotational angiography (3D-RA) is an established method within the field of interventional neuroradiology. The method has also a great potential in other areas with a complicated arterial anatomy. READ MORE

  5. 5. The three-dimensional normal-distributions transform : an efficient representation for registration, surface analysis, and loop detection

    Author : Martin Magnusson; Achim Lilienthal; Wolfram Burgard; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NDT; 3D sensing; surface representation; registration; loop detection; surface analysis; mobile robotics; localisation; mapping; Computer science; Datavetenskap; Computer and Systems Science; Data- och systemvetenskap;

    Abstract : This dissertation is concerned with three-dimensional (3D) sensing and 3D scan representation. Three-dimensional records are important tools in several disciplines; such as medical imaging, archaeology, and mobile robotics. READ MORE
