  2. 2. Assessment of Aerobic Capacity A Novel Rating Scale and Further Development of an Exercise Test including Analysis of Gas Exchange

    University dissertation from KFS AB

    Author : Anita Wisén; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2004]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; kinesitherapy; revalidation; rehabilitation; Rehabilitering medicinsk och social ; Physical medicine; Time constant of V O2; Cycle ergometer; Perceived Capacity; Perceived exertion; Heart rate; Oxygen uptake; Reference values; Oxygen kinetics; Repeatability; Thresholds;

    Abstract : Different methods are proposed to assess the aerobic capacity. A novel scale, rating of perceived capacity (RPC) based on metabolic equivalents (METs) from 1 to 20, is presented. Selected MET values are linked to physical activities. READ MORE

  3. 3. Methodological aspects and usefulness of Quantitative Sensory Testing in early small fiber polyneuropathy a clinical study in Swedish hereditary transthyretin amyloidosis patients

    University dissertation from Umeå : Umeå universitet

    Author : Victoria Heldestad; Umeå universitet.; Umeå universitet.; [2011]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Amyloidosis; cold thresholds; heart rate variability; method-of-limits; quantitative sensory testing; transthyretine; warm thresholds; Clinical Neurophysiology; klinisk neurofysiologi;

    Abstract : Generalised polyneuropathy (PNP) is a common cause to neurological impairment, and may be an early symptom of a severe systemic disease. One such illness is hereditary transthyretin (TTR) amyloidosis (ATTR), a progressive fatal disorder caused by a mutation on the TTR gene. READ MORE

  4. 4. The palaeolimnological record of regime shifts in lakes in response to climate change

    University dissertation from Lund University, dept. of Geology

    Author : Linda Randsalu Wendrup; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [2013]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; palaeolimnology; regime shifts; thresholds; alternative stable states; climate change; ecosystem dynamics; diatoms; hydrocarbons; monitoring; lake sediments; shallow lakes; 8.2 ka event;

    Abstract : Regime shifts in lake ecosystems can occur in response to both abrupt and continuous climate change, and the imprints they leave in palaeolimnological records allow us to investigate and better understand patterns and processes governing ecological changes on geological time scales. This thesis aims at investigating palaeolimnological records of regime shifts in lakes during the Holocene to explore how lake ecosystems responded to climate changes and anthropogenic activities and to identify thresholds or tipping points that produced regime shifts. 5. 5. Human Behaviour in Social-Ecological Systems Insights from economic experiments and agent-based modelling

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Stockholm Resilience Centre, Stockholm University

    Author : Caroline Schill; Stockholms universitet.; [2017]
