  1. 1. Knee joint kinematics and the effects of arthropasty component design

    Author : Tuuli Saari; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : Total knee replacement; motion analysis; radiostereometry; migration; kinematics; radiolucent lines; clinical outcome;

    Abstract : Aims: To evaluate the influence of medial osteoarthritis on knee joint kinematics and the effect of design in total knee replacements (TKR) on the kinematics of trunk, hip, knee and ankle. Associations between articulating surface design, clinical outcome and fixation of the tibial component were also evaluated. READ MORE

  2. 2. The normal and ACL deficient knee : an in vivo three dimensional kinematic and electromyographic analysis

    Author : Dan K Ramsey; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Knee; Tibia; Femur; Tibiofemoral contact points; Tibiofemoral kinematics; Anterior cruciate ligament; ACL injury; Knee brace; Knee instability; Bone pin; Magnetic resonance imaging; NM; Neuromuscular adaptation; Electromyography.;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to describe the in-vivo 3D kinematics of the normal and ACL deficient knee. Baseline data from normal controls were compared against the pathological knee to assess whether generic functional knee braces reduced abnormal displacements. Moreover, 3D bony contact movements were derived from MRI data. READ MORE

  3. 3. Motion analysis of the knee : kinematic artifacts, EMG normalisation and joint forces

    Author : Daniel L Benoit; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Knee; tibiofemoral joint; kinematics; anterior cruciate ligament; ACL; bone pin; markers; neuromuscular adaptation; electromyography; normalisation; skin movement artifact; joint forces; ski injury; ski boot;

    Abstract : The non-contact anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury is the most common and serious debilitating knee joint injury in male and female athletes. To create an ACL injury paradigm that will lead to improved treatment and prevention it is necessary to understand how ACL injuries occur. READ MORE
