  1. 21. Neutron Emission Spectrometry for Fusion Reactor Diagnosis : Method Development and Data Analysis

    Author : Jacob Eriksson; Göran Ericsson; Carl Hellesen; Sean Conroy; Andreas Dinklage; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fusion; plasma diagnostics; neutron spectrometry; TOFOR; MPRu; tokamak; JET; fast ions; fuel ion density; relativistic kinematics; Fysik med inriktning mot tillämpad kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Applied Nuclear Physics;

    Abstract : It is possible to obtain information about various properties of the fuel ions deuterium (D) and tritium (T) in a fusion plasma by measuring the neutron emission from the plasma. Neutrons are produced in fusion reactions between the fuel ions, which means that the intensity and energy spectrum of the emitted neutrons are related to the densities and velocity distributions of these ions. 3. 23. Approaching well-founded comprehensive nuclear data uncertainties : Fitting imperfect models to imperfect data

    Author : Petter Helgesson; Henrik Sjöstrand; Helmut Leeb; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Evaluated nuclear data; uncertainty propagation; uncertainty quantification; model defects; Gaussian processes; TALYS; TENDL; covariances.; Fysik med inriktning mot tillämpad kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Applied Nuclear Physics;

    Abstract : Nuclear physics has a wide range of applications; e.g., low-carbon energy production, medical treatments, and non-proliferation of nuclear weapons. Nuclear data (ND) constitute necessary input to computations needed within all these applications. READ MORE

  4. 24. Experimental data and Total Monte Carlo : Towards justified, transparent and complete nuclear data uncertainties

    Author : Petter Helgesson; Henrik Sjöstrand; Arjan Koning; Stephan Pomp; Dimitri Rochman; Klaes-Håkan Bejmer; Denise Neudecker; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysik med inriktning mot tillämpad kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Applied Nuclear Physics;

    Abstract : The applications of nuclear physics are many with one important being nuclear power, which can help decelerating the climate change. In any of these applications, so-called nuclear data (ND, numerical representations of nuclear physics) is used in computations and simulations which are necessary for, e.g., design and maintenance. 5. 25. Nondestructive Fission Gas Measurements by Means of Gamma Spectroscopy and Gamma Tomography

    Author : Scott Holcombe; Staffan Jacobsson Svärd; Guido Ledergerber; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysik med inriktning mot tillämpad kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Applied Nuclear Physics;

    Abstract : There is a continuous need in the nuclear industry to characterize irradiated nuclear fuel rods and assemblies, both for fuel performance and for safeguards purposes, and consequently there are various destructive and nondestructive measurement techniques available to meet this need. Gamma spectroscopy is one such nondestructive technique, which has been extensively used for a variety of fuel characterization applications. READ MORE
