  1. 1. Generalized Vandermonde matrices and determinants in electromagnetic compatibility

    University dissertation from Västerås : Mälardalen University

    Author : Karl Lundengård; Mälardalens högskola.; [2017]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematics Applied Mathematics; matematik tillämpad matematik;

    Abstract : Matrices whose rows (or columns) consists of monomials of sequential powers are called Vandermonde matrices and can be used to describe several useful concepts and have properties that can be helpful for solving many kinds of problems. In this thesis we will discuss this matrix and some of its properties as well as a generalization of it and how it can be applied to curve fitting discharge current for the purpose of ensuring electromagnetic compatibility. Abstract : The introduction of performance based tariff regulations along with higher media and political pressure have increased the need for well-performed risk and asset management applied to electric power distribution systems (DS), which is an infrastructure considered as a natural monopoly. Compared to other technical systems, DS have special characteristics which are important to consider. READ MORE

  3. 3. Nelson-type Limits for α-Stable Lévy Processes

    University dissertation from Linnéuniversitet

    Author : Haidar Al-Talibi; Linnéuniversitetet.; [2010]

    Abstract : Brownian motion has met growing interest in mathematics, physics and particularly in finance since it was introduced in the beginning of the twentieth century. Stochastic processes generalizing Brownian motion have influenced many research fields theoretically and practically. READ MORE

  4. 4. Analyzing real-world data to promote development of active safety systems that reduce car-to-vulnerable road user accidents

    University dissertation from Linnéuniversitet

    Author : Azra Habibovic; [2012]
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Accident prevention; Naturalistic observation; Causation analysis; Active safety system; Vulnerable road user VRU ; Driver behavior; Functional requirements; Statistical analysis; VRU behavior;

    Abstract : The overall objective of the thesis is to explore various types of real-world road traffic data and to assess the extent to which they can inform the design of active safety systems that aim to prevent car-to-vulnerable road user (VRU) accidents. A combined analysis of in-depth and police reported accident data provided information on driver behavior and contextual variables, which is valuable for the development of active safety systems. 5. 5. Aspects of cash-flow valuation

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Matematik

    Author : Fredrik Armerin; KTH.; [2004]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mathematical statistics; arbitrage; coherent and convex measures of risk; immunization; insurance; martingale methods; Matematisk statistik; MATHEMATICS Applied mathematics Mathematical statistics; MATEMATIK Tillämpad matematik Matematisk statistik;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of five papers. In the first two papers we consider a general approach to cash flow valuation, focusing on dynamic properties of the value of a stream of cash flows. The third paper discusses immunization theory, where old results are shown to hold in general deterministic models, but often fail to be true in stochastic models. READ MORE
