11. Optimization, Matroids and Error-Correcting Codes
Abstract : The first subject we investigate in this thesis deals with optimization problems on graphs. The edges are given costs defined by the values of independent exponential random variables. We show how to calculate some or all moments of the distributions of the costs of some optimization problems on graphs. READ MORE

12. Systems of Linear First Order Partial Differential Equations Admitting a Bilinear Multiplication of Solutions
Abstract : The Cauchy–Riemann equations admit a bilinear multiplication of solutions, since the product of two holomorphic functions is again holomorphic. This multiplication plays the role of a nonlinear superposition principle for solutions, allowing for construction of new solutions from already known ones, and it leads to the exceptional property of the Cauchy–Riemann equations that all solutions can locally be built from power series of a single solution z = x + iy ∈ C. 13. The Levi-Civita geodesic equivalence problem and multiplication of cofactor pair systems
Abstract : When studying equivalence of dynamical systems, in the sense of Levi-Civita, the concept of cofactor pair systems plays an important role. Co-factor pair systems can be constructed through a multiplicative structure of the so called quasi-Cauchy-Riemann equations (cof J)-1▽V = (cof )-1▽, where J and are special conformal Killing tensors. 14. Reconstruction of velocity data using adjoint optimization
Abstract : In many application areas there is a growing interest in data assimilation or data reconstruction. Data assimilation is a process for integrating observed or measured data into a physical model. READ MORE

15. A Panel Method for Supersonic Flow
Abstract : Supersonic airflow is usually described by a nonlinear hyperbolic system of equations. In this thesis we consider an aircraft represented by a union of thin plates orthogonal to the direction of Right, and describe the derivation of an approximate linear model for the airflow around it. The linear model is reduced to a system of integral equations. READ MORE
