6. Timber volume element prefabrication : production and market aspects
Abstract : Problems discussed within the Swedish housing industry are lack of competition, quality and increased costs. Improvements to cope with these problems have shown to be low compared to manufacturing and other industries. READ MORE

7. Industrialised timber frame housing : managing customisation, change, and information
Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis is to develop an increased understanding of industrialised timber frame housing (timber frame housing construction fully or partially conducted in a controlled environment utilising industrial processes and machinery). Of specific interest is how industrialised timber frame housing companies manage customisation, change, and information. READ MORE

8. Design support system for multi-storey timber structures
Abstract : The research presented in this thesis is intended to improve the building process for multi-storey timber houses by reducing the risk of information loss between architects and structural engineers and by improving the possibilities for the structural engineers to optimise the structure with respect to production cost. This is reached by developing and implementing a conceptual model for a design support system for multi-storey timber structures that is capable of handling the information transfer between the architects and the structural engineers in a standardized manner and by providing a method that is capable of finding optimally directed solutions for the structure with respect to production cost. 9. Continuous improvement and experience feedback in off-site construction : timber-framed module prefabrication
Abstract : Continuous improvement implies an incremental, ongoing effort to improve products, services or processes. Some construction companies have chosen to face competition by adopting an off-site construction strategy, one form of which is timber-framed module prefabrication. READ MORE

10. Probabilistic System Effects in Timber Structures
Abstract : The main purpose of the performed research presented in this thesis is to increase the understanding of the effect of variability of strength properties on the reliability of timber structural systems. Compared to other structural materials such as steel and concrete, structural timber has a considerably higher variability of strength both within and between members. READ MORE
