  1. 1. Demand Side Response : Exploring How and Why Users Respond to Signals Aimed at Incentivizing a Shift of Electricity Use in Time

    Author : Isak Öhrlund; Cajsa Bartusch; Peter Juslin; Mikael Larsson; Jacopo Torriti; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Demand response; Electricity use flexibility; Time-varying rate; Dynamic pricing; Price-based program; Time-of-use; Demand charge; Real-time pricing; Real-time feedback; Prosumer; Non-price signal; Non-price incentive; Engineering Science with specialization in industrial engineering and management; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot industriell teknik;

    Abstract : With increased weather-dependent electricity production and electrification at the heart of the ongoing transition away from fossil fuels, peaks in electricity demand are set to increase and become increasingly difficult to meet, which threatens the functioning of the electric power systems that our society depends on. Time-varying electricity rates, which aim to incentivize electricity users to shift their electricity use in time, have been proposed as a key instrument in alleviating grid imbalances and bottlenecks. 2. 2. Logistic Time Requirements in Fast Sea Transportation Systems

    Author : Thore E.W. Hagman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; cycle time; high speed; terminal time; performance; sailing time; total time; fuel consumption; logistic time requirement; power demand;

    Abstract : The dissertation deals with logistic time requirements in fast sea transportation systems and the benefit of the application of the total time definition. The transportation engineering approach, to create new transport systems with high effectiveness, high service levels and also with high resource utilisation, has to some extent gained acceptance in the transportation industry, but it has not been fully realised that the transport system and the traffic system are not identical and that by focusing on high performance of the traffic system no guarantee is given that the transport system will become effective. 3. 3. Strategic time awareness : implications of strategic thinking

    Author : Henrik Friman; Peter Stevrin; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Strategic time; strategic time awareness; strategic thinking and strategic management; Business Administration; företagsekonomi;

    Abstract : Strategic time awareness (STA) is a research project that strives to gain new insights about the strategic thinking process and better understand time in the context of strategic management. The purpose of this study is to understand what managers think is important with regard to time in the process of strategic thinking. READ MORE

  4. 4. Issues in Urban Travel Demand Modelling : ICT Implications and Trip timing choice

    Author : Maria Börjesson; Staffan Algers; Kay Axhausen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Journey; Mathematical model; Origin traffic ; Time; Telecommuting; Journey time; Variability; Stated preference; Delay; Civil engineering and architecture; Samhällsbyggnadsteknik och arkitektur; 11 Road: Personal transport; 11 Road: Personal transport;

    Abstract : Travel demand forecasting is essential for many decisions, such as infrastructure investments and policy measures. Traditionally travel demand modelling has considered trip frequency, mode, destination and route choice. This thesis considers two other choice dimensions, hypothesised to have implications for travel demand forecasting. READ MORE

  5. 5. Studies in Local Public Transport Demand

    Author : Johan Holmgren; Jan Owen Jansson; Lars Westin; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Public transport; Demand; Elasticity; Price; Service; Time series; Panel data; Kollektivtrafik; Efterfrågan; Elasticitet; Pris; Trafikutbud; Inkomst; Bilinnehav; Tidsserieanalys; Paneldata; Economics; Nationalekonomi;

    Abstract : This thesis consists of four papers where the overall purpose is to contribute to the understanding of how local public transport demand is affected by different factors. An underlying theme running trough the thesis is the two-way relationship between public transport demand and the service level caused by the fact that capacity and quality are joint products.
