  1. 16. Live Single Cell Imaging and Analysis Using Microfluidic Devices

    Author : Mohammad Ali Khorshidi; Helene Andersson-Svahn; Håkan Jönsson; Carolina Wählby; Johan Elf; KTH; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Single cell analysis; time-lapse fluorescence imaging; automated image analysis; microwell; droplet microfluidics; NK cells; single cell tracking; migration behavior analysis; cell-cell interaction; optical microscopy; image analysis; image processing; microfluidics; immune cells; tracking; counting; morphology analysis;

    Abstract : Today many cell biological techniques study large cell populations where an average estimate of individual cells’ behavior is observed. On the other hand, single cell analysis is required for studying functional heterogeneities between cells within populations. READ MORE

  2. 17. Towards High-Throughput Phenotypic and Systemic Profiling of in vitro Growing Cell Populations using Label-Free Microscopy and Spectroscopy : Applications in Cancer Pharmacology

    Author : Obaid Aftab; Mats Gustafsson; Neil Carragher; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : label free vesicle detector; high-throughput; phase contrast microscopy; Library of Pharmacologically Active Compounds; High Content Screening; fluorometric microculture cytotoxicity assay; nuclear magnetic resonance; mass spectrometry;

    Abstract : Modern techniques like automated microscopy and spectroscopy now make it possible to study quantitatively, across multiple phenotypic and molecular parameters, how cell populations are affected by different treatments and/or environmental disturbances. As the technology development at the instrument level often is ahead of the data analytical tools and the scientific questions, there is a large and growing need for computational algorithms enabling desired data analysis. 3. 18. Some Applications of Variational Inequalities in Mathematical Finance and Numerics

    Author : Martin Dahlgren; Matematik LTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Matematik; Mathematics; HJB quasi variational inequalities; option pricing; Impulse control; parabolic PDE; finite element method; Galerkin method;

    Abstract : This thesis contains two parts. The first part deals with a stochastic impulse control problem, subject to the restriction of a minimum time lapse in between interventions made by the controller. We prove existence of an optimal control and show that the value function of the control problem satisfies a system of quasi-variational inequalities. READ MORE

  4. 19. Deep learning approaches for image cytometry: assessing cellular morphological responses to drug perturbations

    Author : Philip John Harrison; Ola Spjuth; Carolina Wählby; Andreas Hellander; Peter Horvath; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Deep Learning; Microscopy; Image Analysis; Farmaceutisk vetenskap; Pharmaceutical Science;

    Abstract : Image cytometry is the analysis of cell properties from microscopy image data and is used ubiquitously in basic cell biology, medical diagnosis and drug development. In recent years deep learning has shown impressive results for many image cytometry tasks, including image processing, segmentation, classification and detection. READ MORE

  5. 20. Does acetylcholin play a role in mitosis of V79 Chinese hamster cells?

    Author : Cecilia Söderpalm-Berndes; Stephen M Wolniak; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genetics; Genetik; toxikologisk genetik; Genetic Toxicology;

    Abstract : The first stages of mitosis are governed by a cascade of phosphorylations brought about by the universal MPF kinase complex. From a regulatory point of view, less is known about late mitotic events. READ MORE
