  1. 11. Polyelectrolytes on Surfaces and their Complexes with Surfactants, Thermodynamics versus kinetics

    Author : Yulia Samoshina; Fysikalisk kemi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysikalisk kemi; Polymer technology; Physical chemistry; SDS; amphiphilic polyelectrolytes; ellipsometry; reversibility; kinetics of adsorption; polyelectrolytes at solid-liquid interface; polyelectrolyte-oppositely charged surfactant complexes; biopolymers; Polymerteknik;

    Abstract : The interfacial properties of polyelectrolytes, mainly cationic with various content of amphiphilic groups, and their complexes with an oppositely charged surfactant, sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS), have been investigated using time-resolved ellipsometry. This thesis focuses on the kinetics and reversibility aspects of polymer adsorption and the control of the adsorption by regulating the electrostatic interactions. READ MORE

  2. 12. In situ Studies of Platinum Catalyst Sintering

    Author : Pooya Tabib Zadeh Adibi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nanoparticle sintering; indirect nanoplasmonic sensing; operando spectroscopy; transmission electron microscopy; platinum; catalyst deactivation; sintering kinetics;

    Abstract : The damaging effect of pollutants from combustion engine exhaust on human health and environment is well recognized. Since the 70s, the three-way catalytic converter (TWC) has substantially improved the urban air quality by simultaneous conversion of CO, NOx and unburned hydrocarbons to O2, N2 and H2O. READ MORE

  3. 13. Exploring Electron Transfer Dynamics of Novel Dye Sensitized Photocathodes : Towards Solar Cells and Solar Fuels

    Author : Lei Zhang; Leif Hammarström; Yiying Wu; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electron transfer; Laser spectroscopy; Femtosecond spectroscopy; Transient absorption; NiO; DSSCs; DSSFDs; Charge separation; Solar energy conversion; Nanosecond photolysis; Photophysics; Kemi med inriktning mot kemisk fysik; Chemistry with specialization in Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : The design of dyes for NiO-based dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) has drawn attention owing to their potential applications in photocatalysis and because they are indispensable for the development of tandem dye-sensitized solar cells. The understanding of the electron transfer mechanisms and dynamics is beneficial to guide further dye design and further improve the performance of photocathode in solar cells and solar fuel devices. 4. 14. Reaction Mechanisms and Dynamics in the Early Stage of High-κ Oxide Atomic Layer Deposition : Investigations by In Situ and Operando X-ray Photoemission Spectroscopy

    Author : Giulio D Acunto; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atomic layer depostion ALD ; high-k oxide; in situ and operando study; XPS; APXPS; Fysicumarkivet A:2022:D Acunto;

    Abstract : Atomic layer deposition (ALD) is an outstanding deposition technique to deposit highly conformal and uniform thin films with atomic precision. In particular, ALD of transition metal oxide layers from metal amido complexes and water finds its way in several technological fields, including green energy devices and in the semiconductor industry. 5. 15. Molecular Approaches to Photochemical Solar Energy Conversion : Towards Synthetic Catalysts for Water Oxidation and Proton Reduction

    Author : Gerriet Eilers; Reiner Lomoth; Leif Hammarström; Wolfgang Lubitz; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Physical chemistry; artificial photosynthesis; solar fuel; WOC; OEC; accumulative electron transfer; hydrogenase mimic; oxygen evolution; proton reduction; water oxidation; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : A molecular system capable of photoinduced water splitting is an attractive approach to solar energy conversion. This thesis deals with the functional characterization of molecular building blocks for the three principal functions of such a molecular system: Photoinduced accumulative charge separation, catalytic water oxidation, and catalytic proton reduction.
