  1. 1. Timing parenthood : Independence, family and ideals of life

    Author : Disa Bergnéhr; Gunilla Halldén; Ann Phoenix; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; fertility; postponed parenthood; timing parenthood; family formation; ideals of life; independence; belonging; risk; discourse analysis; focus group method.; fertilitet; uppskjutet barnafödande; tid för föräldraskap; familjebildning; livsideal; oberoende; tillhörighet; risk; diskursanalys; fokusgruppsmetod.; Children; Barn;

    Abstract : Föreliggande arbete är en kvalitativ studie som behandlar valet att bli förälder. Det som undersöks är svenska unga vuxnas samtal kring när tiden är rätt för att bli förälder, livet som förälder kontra livet utan barn, det ideala livet, det goda föräldraskapet och en bra barndom. Abstract : Over time, insects have developed complex strategies to defend themselves against presenting threats. However, in the evolutionary arms race of survival, pathogens have adapted to quickly overcome the immune response mounted by the host. READ MORE

  3. 3. Exploring models of time processing : effects of training and modality, and the relationship with cognition in rhythmic motor tasks

    Author : Olympia Karampela; Guy Madison; Linus Holm; Fredrik Ullén; Simon Grondin; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; timing; motor timing; cogntion; dedicated models; intrinsic models; timing variability;

    Abstract : Timing can be defined as the ability to perceive temporal sequences and regulate timed behaviors. As in other animals, our ability to make accurate time estimations is crucial in order to accomplish several activities. Organisms can process time over a wide range of durations ranging from microseconds to days. READ MORE

  4. 4. Functional modelling of the human timing mechanism

    Author : Guy Madison; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; Psychology; Brain mechanisms; Brownian motion; drift; dynamical systems; fractal; human; Gaussian noise; Hurst exponent; time; time series analysis; timing; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi; fysiologi; Physiology;

    Abstract : Behaviour occurs in time, and precise timing in the range of seconds and fractions of seconds is for most living organisms necessary for successful interaction with the environment. Our ability to time discrete actions and to predict events on the basis of prior events indicates the existence of an internal timing mechanism. READ MORE

  5. 5. Effect of timing training in golf and soccer players : skill, movement organization, and brain activity

    Author : Marius Sommer; Louise Rönnqvist; Charlotte Häger; Nicola Hodges; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Motor timing; rhythmicity; timing training; golf shot; golf swing; kinematics; precision; variability; coordination; movement dynamics; soccer; fMRI; mirror neurons; action observation; cerebellum; perception - action.; Psychology; psykologi;

    Abstract : Background Although trainers and athletes consider ‘good timing skills’ to be critical for optimal sport performance, little is known in regard to how sport-specific skills may benefit from timing training. Thus, assuming that all motor performances are mediated by an internal timing mechanism, enhanced motor timing is expected to have positive effects on both planning and execution of movement performance, and consequently on complex sports actions as golf or soccer.
