  1. 6. Effect of timing training in golf and soccer players : skill, movement organization, and brain activity

    Author : Marius Sommer; Louise Rönnqvist; Charlotte Häger; Nicola Hodges; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Motor timing; rhythmicity; timing training; golf shot; golf swing; kinematics; precision; variability; coordination; movement dynamics; soccer; fMRI; mirror neurons; action observation; cerebellum; perception - action.; Psychology; psykologi;

    Abstract : Background Although trainers and athletes consider ‘good timing skills’ to be critical for optimal sport performance, little is known in regard to how sport-specific skills may benefit from timing training. Thus, assuming that all motor performances are mediated by an internal timing mechanism, enhanced motor timing is expected to have positive effects on both planning and execution of movement performance, and consequently on complex sports actions as golf or soccer. 2. 7. A Purkinje cell Timing Mechanism. On the Physical Basis of a Temporal Duration Memory

    Author : Fredrik Johansson; Associativ inlärning; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Cerebellum; Purkinje cell; Timing; Temporal; Memory; Eyeblink conditioning; mGluR7; Kir3; GIRK;

    Abstract : The standard view of neural signaling is that a neuron can influence its target cell by exciting or inhibiting it. Learning is thought to involve strengthening or weakening synaptic connections. For most behaviors, the brain must learn to produce precisely timed activity patterns. READ MORE

  3. 8. Timing options and taxation : essays on the economics of firm creation and tax evasion

    Author : Tomas Forsfält; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Företagsbeskattning; Småföretag;

    Abstract : Taxation of Small Firms under Uncertainty: A Real Option View of Firm CreationThis paper addresses the impact of the tax system on the incentives to become self-employed. The new approach here is that the creation of a firm is assumed to be an opportunity but not an obligation, that is, a real option. READ MORE

  4. 9. On the developmental significance of female pubertal timing

    Author : Therése Skoog; Håkan Stattin; Margaret Kerr; Judith Dubas; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; female; puberty; pubertal timing; development; adjustment; longitudinal; sexuality; peer relations; weight status; mechanisms; conditions; Psychology; Psykologi; Psykologi; Psychology;

    Abstract : Puberty is the process of becoming sexually mature and it has fundamental somatic and psychosocial implications. The focus of this dissertation was the short and long term developmental significance, concerning both soma et psyche, of female pubertal timing. Four studies were designed to accomplish these aims. Abstract : Cars, trains, trucks, telecom networks and industrial robots are examples of products relying on complex embedded software systems, running on embedded computers. Such systems may consist of millions of lines of program code developed by hundreds of engineers over many years, often decades. READ MORE
