  1. 1. Tissue Factor Biological Functions : Coagulation Activity in Microparticles and Signaling with Focus On Migration and Apoptosis

    Author : Mikael Åberg; Agneta Siegbahn; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Teet Velling; Björn Dahlbäck; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Tissue factor; Apoptosis; Migration; Chemotaxis; Simvastatin; Platelet Derived Growth Factor; Cell Signaling; Microparticles; Prostasomes; Trombosis; Coagulation; Prostate Cancer; Breast Cancer; Caspase-3; Caspase-8; NFkappaB; PAR2; Transactivation; Monocytes; Clinical chemistry; Klinisk kemi;

    Abstract : Background: Tissue factor (TF) is a 47 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein known as the main initiator of blood coagulation. TF is over-expressed on many malignant cells and apart from increasing the risk of thrombosis, the presence of TF/FVIIa also promotes the progression of cancer and metastasis by intracellular signaling. 2. 2. Tissue Factor and CD40 Ligand : Markers for the Interplay of Coagulation and Inflammation in the Acute Coronary Syndrome

    Author : Anders Mälarstig; Agneta Siegbahn; Lars Wallentin; Taavo Tenno; Fiona Green; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Molecular medicine; tissue factor; CD40 ligand; gene expression; single nucleotide polymorphism; acute coronary syndrome; myocardial infarction; coagulation; inflammation; Molekylärmedicin;

    Abstract : BACKGROUND: Tissue factor (TF) is a 47 kDa transmembrane glycoprotein known as the main initiator of blood coagulation. CD40 ligand is another membrane molecule, which ligates to cell types associated with atherosclerotic plaques thereby mediating intraplaque inflammation and weakening of the fibrous cap. READ MORE

  3. 3. Platelet activation and tissue factor release in hemolytic uremic syndrome

    Author : Anne-lie Ståhl; Lund Pediatrik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Hemolytic uremic syndrome; platelets; tissue factor; LPS; Shiga toxin; complement system; factor H; clusterin;

    Abstract : Hemolytic uremic syndrome (HUS) is a clinical syndrome characterized by microangiopathic hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia and acute renal failure. There are two subtypes: typical HUS associated with enterohemorrhagic E. coli (EHEC) and atypical HUS associated with uninhibited activation of the alternative pathway of complement. READ MORE

  4. 4. Tissue Factor in Complex : Studies of interactions between blood coagulation proteins

    Author : Karin Carlsson; Magdalena Svensson; Susanne Wisén; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Many biological processes rely on specific protein-protein interactions, for example immune responses, cell signaling, transcription, and blood coagulation. Blood coagulation is initiated when a vessel wall is damaged, exposing tissue factor (TF) to the circulating factor VII/factor VIIa (FVII/FVIIa) which results in the formation of the TF:FVIIa complex and thereby the initiation of blood coagulation. 5. 5. Monocytes, Tissue Factor and Heparin-coated Surfaces : Clinical and Experimental Studies

    Author : Matilda Johnell; Agneta Siegbahn; Rolf Larsson; Jesper Swedenborg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; monocytes; tissue factor; heparin-coated surfaces; coagulation; inflammation; thrombin; cytokines; cardiopulmonary bypass; biocompatibility; migration; chemotaxis; Medicin; Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Abstract : Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is associated with inflammatory response and activation of coagulation. Heparin coating of the CPB circuit is shown to improve the biocompatibility of the surface. The biological effects of a new heparin surface, the Corline Heparin Surface (CHS), prepared according to a new principle, have been studied. READ MORE
