  1. 1. Breating pattern by inductive plethysmography in relatidon to bronchial obstruction in asthma

    Author : Tomas Strömberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : This work aimed at improving a method for "non-invasive" ventilatory monitoring (the respiratory inductive plethysmography; RIP), and at assessing whether RIP can be used for detection and monitoring of bronchial obstruction in asthma.The RIP measures the changes in rib cage and abdominal cross-sectional areas during breathing. 2. 2. Respiratory inductive plethysmography (RIP) : calibration, breathing pattern analysis and external CO2 dead space measurement

    Author : Tomas Strömberg; Gert Nilsson; Per M. Gustafsson; Steffen Groth; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Respiratory inductive plethysmography (RIP) is an important tool for ventilatory monitoring in research studies because it has minimal influence on the spontaneous breathing pattern and because the rib cage and abdominal contributions to the breaths are measured. RIP measures changes in rib cage and abdominal cross-sectional areas which are translated into lung volume estimates via RIP calibration against e. READ MORE

  3. 3. Towards concurrent planning of railway maintenance and train services

    Author : Tomas Lidén; Jan Lundgren; Martin Joborn; Ann-Brith Strömberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : Efficiency in the public and freight transportation systems is of crucial importance for a society. Railways can offer high capacity and relatively low environmental impact, but require that several technical systems are tuned and operate well. READ MORE

  4. 4. Multispectral imaging of hemoglobin oxygen saturation in skin microcirculation

    Author : Maria Ewerlöf; Göran Salerud; Tomas Strömberg; Marcus Larsson; Maurice C. G. Aalders; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Multispectral imaging; hemoglobin oxygen saturation; microcirculation;

    Abstract : The ability to measure microcirculatory parameters such as hemoglobin oxygen saturation is important since it mirrors the microcirculatory state of the body. The microcirculation delivers oxygen and nutrients to the cells of the body and, if impaired, may be a sign of circulatory failure. READ MORE

  5. 5. Quantitative Laser Doppler Flowmetry

    Author : Ingemar Fredriksson; Tomas Strömberg; Marcus Larsson; Weindelt Stenbergen; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Medical engineering; Medicinsk teknik;

    Abstract : Laser Doppler flowmetry (LDF) is virtually the only non-invasive technique, except for other laser speckle based techniques, that enables estimation of the microcirculatory blood flow. The technique was introduced into the field of biomedical engineering in the 1970s, and a rapid evolvement followed during the 1980s with fiber based systems and improved signal analysis. READ MORE
