16. Very high cycle fatigue of high performance steels
Abstract : Many engineering components reach a finite fatigue life well above 109 load cycles. Some examples of such components are found in airplanes, automobiles or high speed trains. For some materials the fatigue failures have lately been found to occur well after 107 load cycles, namely in the Very High Cycle Fatigue (VHCF) range. READ MORE

17. The Metallurgical Aspects of Machinability in Prehardened Mould Steels
Abstract : High economical efficiency obtained by utilizing prehardened mould steels in plastic mould making has increased the usage of these types of steels to a great extent. Generally, prehardened mould steels are applied for large moulds and moulds for moderate production runs, and one of the advantages of using this type of steel is that no heat treatment is necessary for putting the mould in use. 18. Galling of high strength steels and stainless steels in sheet metal forming as evaluated using pin-on-disc testing
Abstract : The thesis focuses on the problem galling in sheet metal forming operations. Galling occurs when sheet metal transfers from the sheet surface onto the tool surface and causes surface damages to following sheets in the forming operation. When this happens the tool must be replaced causing production stops and additional expenses. READ MORE

19. Influence of Microstructure on the Machinability of Prehardened Mould Steels
Abstract : Mould steels are mainly employed in moulding of plastic products, and also some metals withlow melting temperature such as magnesium alloys. The ever-growing usage of plastics in theindustry, especially the automotive industry, and in everyday life, has increased the utilizationof mould steels. READ MORE

20. On wear of wood-cutting tools : Tool materials, wear mechanisms and modelling
Abstract : Bandsaw blades are commonly used in the sawmill industry for timber cutting. The saw teeth are gradually worn during cutting and will finally cause unacceptable surface roughness and dimensional deviations on the sawn wood product. Maintenance by re-sharpening of the saw teeth is therefore necessary after a certain time of sawing. READ MORE
