  1. 1. On wear of wood-cutting tools : Tool materials, wear mechanisms and modelling

    University dissertation from Karlstad : Karlstad University Studies

    Author : Johan Nordström; [2005]
    Keywords : Tool material; Wood cutting; Wear; Modelling;

    Abstract : Bandsaw blades are commonly used in the sawmill industry for timber cutting. The saw teeth are gradually worn during cutting and will finally cause unacceptable surface roughness and dimensional deviations on the sawn wood product. Maintenance by re-sharpening of the saw teeth is therefore necessary after a certain time of sawing. READ MORE

  2. 2. Simulation of Wheel and Rail Profile Evolution Wear Modelling and Validation

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Roger Enblom; KTH.; [2004]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; contact; wear; wear prediction; wear model; wheel profile; rail profile; simulation vehicle-track interaction; multibody simulation; MBS; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : Numerical procedures for reliable wheel and rail wearprediction are rare. Recent development of simulationtechniques and computer power together with tribologicalknowledge do however suggest computer aided wear prediction. READ MORE

  3. 3. Machinability variations in Alloy 718 —With focus on machining of turbine components

    Abstract : Popular Abstract in English You may have never heard of gas turbine engines, but they are used in all kinds of un¬expected places. For example, many of the helicopters you see, a lot of s¬maller power plants and even the military vehicle use gas turbines. A gas turbine consists of a compressor, a combustion chamber and a turbine. READ MORE

  4. 4. Wear mechanisms in sheet metal forming Effects of tool microstructure, adhesion and temperature

    University dissertation from Karlstad : Karlstad University

    Author : Anders Gåård; Karlstads universitet.; Karlstads universitet.; Karlstads universitet.; [2008]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Materialteknik; Materials Engineering; Galling; sheet metal forming; wear; friction; adhesion; temperature;

    Abstract : The general trend in the car body manufacturing industry is towards low-series production and reduction of press lubricants and car weight. The limited use of lubricants, in combination with the introduction of high and ultrahigh-strength sheet materials, continuously increases the demands on the forming tools. READ MORE
