11. Surface Characterization using Radiometric and Fourier Optical Methods
Abstract : This thesis treats static and dynamic surface characterization using radiometric and Fourier optical methods. A Fourier optical method has been developed for real time image processing in paper production and printing applications. READ MORE

12. A surface approach to understanding the dissolution of fluorite type materials : Implications for mineral dissolution kinetic models
Abstract : Traditional dissolution models are based in the analyses of bulk solution compositions and ignore the fact that different sites of a surface dissolve at different rates. Consequently, the variation of surface area and surface reactivity during dissolution are not considered for the calculation of the overall dissolution rate, which is expected to remain constant with time. 13. Supporting Management of the Risk of Wind Damage in South Swedish Forestry
Abstract : Private forest owners in southern Sweden consider wind damage to be one of the most problematic risks from an economic perspective. A potential climate change also raises the question of the possible impact of such a climate change on the risk of wind damage. READ MORE

14. Structural Aspects of Peroxide Crosslinking of Polyethylene
Abstract : Despite major developments in the ways of polymerising ethylene (the processes as well as the catalysts) the use of polyethylene is still restricted in several applications due to its low melting point. This shortcoming can in some areas be overcome by the introduction of crosslinks between the polymer chains. READ MORE

15. Microsystems Technology for Underwater Vehicle Applications
Abstract : The aim of this thesis work has been to investigate how miniaturization, such as microsystems technology, can potentially increase the scientific throughput in exploration of hard-to-reach underwater environments, such as the subglacial lakes of Antarctica, or other challenging environments, including cave systems and wrecks. A number of instruments and subsystems applicable to miniature submersibles have been developed and studied, and their potential to provide a high functionality density for size-restricted exploration platforms has been assessed.
