  1. 16. The stack mode review of volumetric datasets : applications for urinary stone disease

    Author : Mats Lidén; Håkan Geijer; Torbjörn Andersson; Anders Magnusson; Örebro universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; stack mode display; image visualization; image perception; computed tomography; urinary stones; urolithiasis; PACS; Medicine; Medicin;

    Abstract : During the last decades the acquisition and visualization of radiological images have rapidly evolved. The increasing amounts of volumetric image data particularly from modern CT systems necessitate a constant evolution of the radiological visualization techniques. READ MORE

  2. 17. Aspects on Image Quality in Radiologic Evaluation of the Urinary Tract

    Author : Margareta Lundin; Anders Persson; Torbjörn Andersson; Håkan Geijer; Anders Magnuson; Jan Persliden; Anders Magnusson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The focus of this document is on image quality as one of the factors fundamental for the diagnostic process. With the rising number of procedures and the trend towards more complicated examinations, urinary tract investigations was chosen in this work as a good clinical model for evaluation of the factors influencing image quality and of the ways of evaluating image quality. 3. 18. Power Doppler - Principles and Potential Clinical Applications

    Author : Anders Nilsson; PG Lindgren; Torbjörn Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; Ultrasonography; Doppler studies; Power Doppler; Volume flow; Radiologisk forskning; Radiological research; Radiologisk forskning;

    Abstract : The purpose of this work was to: a) Determine whether the amount of colour in a power Doppler image is dependent on the angle between the examined vessel and the soundbeam and/or on the velocity of the flow within the vessel; b) Investigate if a dependency on flow velocity could be used for the detection of volume flow differences and c) Define clinical applications utilising the improved sensitivity to low flow of PD.In the experimental studies (study I and II) a silicon tube in a water bath was insonated, the insonation angle and the volume flow changed and the resulting images stored, transferred to a personal computer and analysed with regard to the amount of colour present in the image. 4. 19. Percutaneous Nephrostomies : Planning for an Optimal Access, Complications, Follow-up and Outcome

    Author : Eva Radecka; Anders Magnusson; Marianne Brehmer; Torbjörn Andersson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; Percutaneous nephrostomy; Percutaneious nephrolithotripsy; Complications; Puncture technique; CT guidance; Radiologisk forskning; Radiological research; Radiologisk forskning;

    Abstract : Percutaneous nephrostomy (PCN) is a well-established intervention performed to divert urine from the collecting system in ureteric obstruction or as a prelude to interventional procedures such as stent placement or percutaneous nephrolithotripsy (PCNL). The aim of this thesis is to enhance planning for an optimal insertion of PCN, investigate complications, long-term management, follow-up and outcome in patients with PCN treatment and to increase accuracy in CT-guided punctures.
