  1. 1. Aspects of oral implant technology and osseointegration

    Author : Rainde Naiara Rezende de Jesus; Malmö universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; biomaterials; oral implants; surface topography; surface roughness; surface energy; surface wettability; hydrophilicity; macrogeometry; implant body; thread design; surgical protocol; oversized drilling; osseointegration; bone-to-implant contact; bone density; primary implant stability; insertion torque; removal torque; removal energy; connection stiffness; osteoclasts; RAW264.7 cells; gene expression;

    Abstract : Behandling med käkbensförankrade tandimplantat är en vanlig metod för att ersätta förlorade tänder hos helt och partiellt tandlösa patienter. Trots att implantatbehandling uppvisar en långsiktigt hög lyckande- och överlevnadsfrekvens (90–95% efter 10 år) så förekommer implantatförluster och marginal benförlust kring implantaten under det första året efter insättning och/eller belastning, vilket kan försämra det estetiska resultatet. 2. 2. Theory of X-ray Absorption Spectra and Spin Transfer Torque

    Author : Ola Wessely; Olle Eriksson; Lars Nordström; Eric Shirley; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; First principles calculations; X-ray absorption spectroscopy; Carbon nanotubes; Helical spin density waves; Hydrogen storage; Spin transfer torque; Fysik; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : The subjects of the thesis are theoretical first principles calculations of X-ray absorption (XA) spectra and current induced spin transfer torque. XA spectra calculated from atomic multiplet theory and from band structure calculations, based on density functional theory for La0.7Sr0.3MnO3 have been compared to experiment. READ MORE

  3. 3. Spin Dynamics and Magnetic Multilayers

    Author : Björn Skubic; Olle Eriksson; Lars Nordström; Mark D. Stiles; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; magnetism; electronic structure; density functional theory; spin dynamics; spin-transfer torque; spin-density wave; multilayer; interface structure; Fysik;

    Abstract : Theoretical studies based on first-principles theory are presented for a number of different magnetic systems. The first part of the thesis concerns spin dynamics and the second part concerns properties of magnetic multilayers. The theoretical treatment is based on electronic structure calculations performed by means of density functional theory. READ MORE

  4. 4. Parathyroid hormone for bone repair and implant fixation - Experiment in rats

    Author : Ralf Skripitz; Lund Ortopedi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PMMA-cement; torque; tensile tesst; Bone conduction chamber; PTH; rats; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi;

    Abstract : Intermittently administered PTH is known to increase bone mass in osteoporosis models. We studied its effects in bone repair and implant fixation, using histological and mechanical techniques in rats. READ MORE

  5. 5. Electromagnetic Analysis of Hydroelectric Generators
