1. Analysis and speciation of organic phosphorus in environmental matrices : Development of methods to improve 31P NMR analysis
Abstract : Phosphorus (P) is an essential element for life on our planet. It is central in numerous biochemical processes in terrestrial and aqueous ecosystems including food production; and it is the primary growth-limiting nutrient in some of the world’s biomes. READ MORE

2. Microalgae for Phosphorus Removal from Wastewater in a Nordic Climate
Abstract : As part of a research project aiming to develop and evaluate a hydroponic system for wastewater treatment in Sweden, extended nutrient removal by microalgae was tested. The hydroponic/microalgal wastewater treatment system was built in a greenhouse in order to improve growth conditions for plants and algae. READ MORE

3. Data-driven analysis of water and nutrient flows: Case of the Sava River Catchment and comparison with other regions
Abstract : A growing human population and demands for food, freshwater and energy are causing extensive changes in the water and biogeochemical cycles of river catchments around the world. Addressing and investigating such changes is particularly important for transboundary river catchments, where they impose additional risk to a region’s stability. READ MORE

4. Free-Vehicle Benthic Lander Technology for the Study of Biogeochemical Processes in Marine Sediments
Abstract : Various sediment sampling and incubation techniques were used to characterize benthic biogeochemical processes important for an improved understanding of the oceanic carbon cycle. Recent flux data from the Arctic Siberian shelf are revealing differences (often by a factor of ten) between areas affected by the big Russian river outlets (high fluxes) and areas with low influence from land (low fluxes). 5. Organic phosphorus speciation in environmental samples : Method development and applications
Abstract : This thesis investigates the development of new methodology for the identification and quantification of organic phosphorus compounds in environmental samples.Phosphorus is a vital element for primary production and one of the factors contributing to eutrophication. READ MORE
