16. Modeling Music : Studies of Music Transcription, Music Perception and Music Production
Abstract : This dissertation presents ten studies focusing on three important subfields of music information retrieval (MIR): music transcription (Part A), music perception (Part B), and music production (Part C).In Part A, systems capable of transcribing rhythm and polyphonic pitch are described. 17. Transcriptional Regulation by Hypoxia-Inducible Factors in Tumor Cells
Abstract : Cancer is a major cause of human morbidity and mortality, and the risk of developing cancer is about one in three life times. Neuroblastoma is the most common extra-cranial solid tumor among children and arises from early sympathetic nervous system (SNS) cells arrested in their development. READ MORE

18. Nucleosome positioning : impact on transcription factors access
Abstract : In the eukaryotic cell nucleus, DNA is organized into nucleosomes. Some of the regulatory regions are integrated into sequence-specifically positioned nucleosomes. READ MORE

19. Chromatin regulators and transcriptional control of Drosophila development
Abstract : The development of a multicellular organism is programmed by complex patterns of gene expression. In eukaryotic cells, genes are packaged by histone proteins into chromatin. Chromatin regulators often function as transcription co-factors. READ MORE

20. Regulation of gene expression in fruit flies : how does it start, and will it be remembered?
Abstract : One of the most distinctive features of eukaryotic chromosomes is the bundling of DNA together with functionally associated RNA and proteins in chromatin. This allows huge amounts of DNA to be packed inside the very tiny space of the nucleus, and alterations in the structure of chromatin enable access to the DNA for transcription (“reading” genes by production of RNA copies).
