  1. 1. Fouling in biomass fired boilers

    University dissertation from Västerås : Mälardalen University

    Author : Jan Sandberg; Rebei Fdhila; Erik Dahlqvist; Alain Liné; [2011]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy- and Environmental Engineering; energi- och miljöteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis describes a detailed investigation into fouling in biomass fired boilers according to fuel mixture, combustion conditions, transportation of particles by the flue gas and the probability of particles impinging and sticking onto heat transfer tubes. The effects of fouling on overall boiler performance and the efficacy of soot blowing are also investigated. READ MORE

  2. 2. Melanosome transfer, photoreception and toxicity assays in melanophores

    University dissertation from Västerås : Mälardalen University

    Author : Daniel Hedberg; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2009]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; colour change; melanophores; melanosome; intracellular transport; pigment transfer; photoreception; toxicity assay; Roundup; glyphosate;

    Abstract : Many animals such as fish and frogs have developed the ability to change colour of their skin to adapt to the environment or to signal to other individuals. This ability is due to specialised skin cells called melanophores. READ MORE

  3. 3. Hydrodynamics, Erosion and Heat Transfer in Pressurized Fluidized Beds

    University dissertation from Västerås : Mälardalen University

    Author : Jan Wiman; [1997]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; hydrodynamics erosion; heat transfer; tubes; fluidized bed; gas flow; pressurized fluidized bed; bubble;

    Abstract : Measurements of hydrodynamics, local tube erosion and local instantaneous bed-to-tube heat transfer were carried out in a cold, pressurized, fluidized bed with different horizontal tube banks. The influence of pressure, fluidization velocity, particle size and tube-bank geometry was studied. READ MORE

  4. 4. Modelling and control of a line-commutated HVDC transmission system interacting with a VSC STATCOM

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Paulo Fischer de Toledo; Hans-Peter Nee; Gustaf Ohlsson; [2007]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Keywords : HVDC transmission; LCC – Line-commutated Current-source Converter; STATCOM; VSC – Voltage Source Converter; Space-Vector complex vector ; transfer-function; frequency-domain analysis; TECHNOLOGY Electrical engineering; electronics and photonics; TEKNIKVETENSKAP Elektroteknik; elektronik och fotonik;

    Abstract : The interaction of an HVDC converter with the connected power system is of complex nature. An accurate model of the converter is required to study these interactions. The use of analytical small-signal converter models provides useful insight and understanding of the interaction of the HVDC system and the connected system components. READ MORE

  5. 5. Modeling and Control of Voltage Source Converters Connected to the Grid

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Michael Lindgren; [1998]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; voltage source converter; switching frequency; pulse width modulation; IGBT valve; power electronics; small-signal; L-filter; LCL-filter; transfer function; line filter; active filtering; frequency response; sampling frequency;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the modeling and control of pulse width modulated (PWM) voltage source converters connected to the grid. When voltage source converters are connected to the grid, the power quality and the dynamic performance are affected by the line filter connected between the converter and the grid, and by nonlinearities caused by the switching converter.
