1. Nucleotide-binding Proteins in the Plant Thylakoid Membrane
Abstract : Life on Earth is dependent on the oxygen produced through photosynthesis. The thylakoid membrane is the site for the light-driven reactions of photosynthesis, which oxidize water and supply energy in the form of ATP, mainly for carbon fixation. The utilization of ATP in the lumenal space of the thylakoid has not been considered in the past. READ MORE

2. NMR structral studies on ruthenium complexes binding to DNA
Abstract : The Ru-complex Λ,Λ-[bidppz(bipy)4Ru2]4+ (Λ,Λ-B) exhibits multiple modes of interactions with the palindromic DNA dodecamer [d(CGCGAATTCGCG)]2, however excluding any type of intercalation as shown by both optical spectroscopy and NMR. NMR observation of Λ,Λ-B titration into a DNA solution results in both a transient binding, with observation of fast exchange for protons located near the ends of the DNA duplex, and a more stable interaction in the DNA minor groove indicated by a slow exchange mechanism and binding sites for G2, G4 and A5 of the same DNA strand. 3. How transient interactions in the crowded cytosol affect protein mobility and stability
Abstract : Most biochemical reactions have evolved in crowded intracellular environments. However, the complexity of intracellular environments is often neglected in structural or functional studies of proteins. READ MORE

4. Shining Light on Molecules : Electron Transfer Processes in Model Systems for Solar Energy Conversion Investigated by Transient Absorption Spectroscopy
Abstract : In the recent years, solar energy conversion has attracted a huge research interest due to the potential application for limiting the greenhouse effect. In many solar cells and solar fuel cells, understanding of charge transfer (CT) and recombination is important for future improvement of the overall efficiency. READ MORE

5. Molecular Metamorphosis in Transcriptional Regulation
Abstract : The foundation of all life is the interaction of molecules. Molecular interaction occurs in the tightly packed cytoplasm. In this crowded environment, the molecules need to be able to establish stable interactions with specific interaction partners, and with specific ones only. READ MORE
