  1. 1. Quantitative Bioanalysis : Liquid separations coupled to targeted mass spectrometric measurements of bioactive compounds

    Author : Björn Arvidsson; Jonas Bergquist; Magnus Wetterhall; Gérard Hopfgartner; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical chemistry; Method development; Enhanced microdialysis; Column switching; Liquid chromatography; Capillary electrophoresis; Electrospray ionization; Mass spectrometry; Triple quadrupole; Time-of-flight; Quantitation; Validation; Analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Performing quantitative analysis of targeted bioactive compounds in biological samples, such as blood plasma, cerebrospinal fluid or extracts from pig liver, put high demands on the ruggedness of the method acquiring the results. In addition to the complexity of the sample matrix, the bioactive compounds targeted for analysis usually have low levels of natural abundance, further increasing the demand on the analytical method sensitivity. 2. 2. Detection and Structure Elucidation of Drug Metabolites in Biological Samples using HPLC-MS/MS Techniques

    Author : Annica Tevell Åberg; Mikael Hedeland; Ulf Bondesson; Mario Thevis; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; analytisk farmaceutisk kemi; Analytical Pharmaceutical Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis describes the structure elucidation of drug metabolites in biological samples by the use of high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) atmospheric pressure ionization (API) tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS). Due to their different advantages, various mass analyzers have been used in the different experiments. READ MORE

  3. 3. Analysis of Metabolites in Complex Biological Samples Using LC/MS and Multivariate Data Analysis : Metabolic Fingerprinting and Detection of Biomarkers

    Author : Helena Idborg; Sven Jacobsson; Per-Olof Edlund; Jonas Bergquist; Stockholms universitet; []

    Abstract : To facilitate early diagnosis of diseases and elucidation of the processes involved in their development and progression, various specific compounds or ‘biomarkers’ are often monitored. The first step is to decide which compounds to analyze. READ MORE

  4. 4. Mechanisms of Anion Reactions from the lab to ionospheres

    Author : Fredrik Lindén; Wolf D. Geppert; Henrik Cederquist; Henning Zettergren; Einar Uggerud; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ab initio; anion; complex molecules; cross section; electron transfer; heavy ions; ionosphere; nitriles; quantum chemistry; spectroscopy; kemisk fysik; Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : A multitude of heavy neutral and ionic molecules have been discovered by the Cassini Plasma Spectrometer in the ionosphere of Saturn's largest moon Titan. However, only three cyano anions were explicitly identified there, namely CN-, C3N- and C5N-. READ MORE

  5. 5. GC-MS based metabolomics – Development of a next generation GC-MS method and its application to nutrition and biomarker research

    Author : Otto Savolainen; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []

    Abstract : Metabolomics, the measurement of a broad range of small molecules in a sample, is maturing as a field in analytical chemistry and becoming a standard research tool in biological sciences for helping to generate a wider understanding of the complex biological mechanisms behind, for example, development of disease and effects of diet on health. Metabolomics analysis is generally divided into either targeted or untargeted metabolomics. READ MORE
