  1. 1. Genetic and molecular regulation of epithelial tube morphogenesis

    Author : Anna Tonning; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2006]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; epithelial tube morphogenesis; trachea; Drosophila; chitin; chitin synthase; apical extracellular matrix; paracellular diffusion barrier; tube expansion; septate junctions;

    Abstract : Networks of epithelial tubes, such as the vertebrate lung, kidney and vascular system, enable transport of gases and nutrients to all tissues in the body. These tubes are built up by a single layer of polarized epithelial cells, with the apical membrane facing the lumen. READ MORE

  2. 2. The Role of Shb in Angiogenesis, FGF and VEGF Signalling in Endothelial Cells

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Kristina Holmqvist; Uppsala universitet.; [2004]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Shb; Src; FAK; Angiogenesis; VEGFR-2; FGFR-1; Endothelial cells; Spreading; Stress fiber formation; siRNA; VEGF; FGF; Differentiation; Migration; Tube formation; RNAi; Medicin; MEDICINE Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; MEDICIN Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin;

    Abstract : Angiogenesis is defined as the formation of new capillary blood vessels from pre-existing ones. This process involves several steps including: migration, proliferation and differentiation of endothelial cells into blood vessels. READ MORE

  3. 3. The role of progesterone in the regulation of ciliary activity in the fallopian tube

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Magdalena Nutu; Göteborgs universitet.; Gothenburg University.; [2009]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; progesterone; progesterone receptor; non-genomic progesterone receptor; ciliated cells; fallopian tube; gamete transport; ciliary activity; ciliary beat frequency; reproduction; fertility;

    Abstract : The overall aim of this thesis was to investigate the distribution and regulation of membrane progesterone receptors (mPRs) that may be involved in regulating ciliary activity in the fallopian tube. The fallopian tube serves to transport the egg and spermatozoa to achieve fertilization. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cdc42 and Rac1 in Pancreatic Tubulogenesis and Islet Formation

    University dissertation from Stem Cell and Pancreas Developmental Biology

    Author : Gokul Kesavan; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2009]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Tubes form the basic structure of several organs like lungs, kidneys, glandular organs like the pancreas, mammary and salivary glands. Tube formation involves a series of dynamic and interdependent cellular processes, including cytoskeletal reorganization, assembly of intercellular junctional complexes, and cell polarization. 5. 5. High Temperature Corrosion of Some Stainless Steels

    University dissertation from Stem Cell and Pancreas Developmental Biology

    Author : Carolina Pettersson; [2009]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; oxidation of stainless steel; alkali induced corrosion; KCl induced corrosion; Sanicro 28; chromate formation;

    Abstract : The high temperature corrosion of the alloy Sanicro 28 (35Fe27Cr31Ni) is addressed in this thesis. The influence of water vapour and two potassium-containing salts was investigated. In addition, three other alloys were studied. Polished steel coupons were isothermally exposed in tube furnaces at 600–800°C in 5% O2 and in 5% O2 + 40% H2O. READ MORE
