  1. 1. Adaptive Finite Element Methods for Compressible Two-Phase Flow

    Author : Erik Burman; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; adaptive finite element methods; two-phase flow; compressible flow; conservation laws; hyperbolic systems; a posteriori error estimates; streamline diffusion; stability analysis; quantitative error control; adaptive algorithms; quantitative error control;

    Abstract : In this thesis we develop, apply and analyse adaptive finite element methods with error control for compressible flow problems, focusing in particular on two-phase flow. The adaptive algorithms, aiming at quantitative error control with efficient use of computational resources, are based on a posteriori error estimates, where the error is estimated in terms of the computed solution, the local mesh-size and certain stability factors. 2. 2. Numerical Study of Dispersed Two-phase Flows

    Author : Zhilei Wu; Strömningsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Thermal engineering; Teknik; Technological sciences; Eulerian Lagrangian model.; Eulerian Eulerian model; Lagrangian Particle Tracking; Large Eddy Simulation; Two-phase flow; Particle Image Velocimetry; applied thermodynamics; Termisk teknik; termodynamik;

    Abstract : This thesis considers the numerical study of dispersed two-phase flows.Numerical simulations have been done to investigate the particle trasportation/dispersion effect in turbulent two-phase flows. Both turbulent bubble/water flows and turbulent particle/air flows are studied. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mass Conserving Simulations of Two Phase Flow

    Author : Elin Olsson; Gunilla Kreiss; Stig Larsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; free boundary; two phase flow; level set method; conservative; Numerical analysis; Numerisk analys;

    Abstract : Consider a mixture of two immiscible, incompressible fluids e.g. oil and water. Since the fluids do not mix, an interface between the two fluids will form and move in time. READ MORE

  4. 4. Isolation of caveolae using affinity two-phase partitioning

    Author : Parisa Abedinpour; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; metabolism; Biokemi; Metabolism; Biochemistry; basolateral; apical; immunoaffinity; wheat germ agglutinin; caveolin; caveolae caveolae enriched fraction; plasma membranes; rat lung; rat liver; Affinity Partitioning; two-phase partitioning;

    Abstract : The intention of this work was to establish alternative purification methods to obtain highly purified caveolae from various tissues. In order to isolate caveolae, sufficiently pure plasma membranes are needed. READ MORE
