  1. 11. Methods for Reducing the Complexity of Geometrical Structures Based on CFD Programming : Time Efficient Simulations Based on Volume Forces Coupled with Single and Two-phase Flow

    Author : Kamal Rezk; Lars Nilsson; Jonas Berghel; Erik Dahlquist; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Numerical design cycle; CFD; porous media; volume forces; heat exchanger; vacuum dewatering; time efficient simulations; Miljö- och energisystem; Environmental and Energy Systems;

    Abstract : Throughout recent years, computer based programs have been applied to solve and analyse industrial problems encountered global fields such as automobile design for reduction of CO2-gas, designing wind parks aimed at increasing power output etc. One of these developed programs is Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) which numerically solves complex flow behaviour based on computer power. 2. 12. Short-term and Long-term Exposure to Air pollution and Stroke risk

    Author : Anna Oudin; Avdelningen för arbets- och miljömedicin; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Long-term effects; Two-phase methods; Hemorrhagic stroke; Ischemic stroke; Short-term effects; Hospital admissions; Air Pollution;

    Abstract : Background: Stroke is a major cause of mortality and morbidity across the world. Air pollution has become an acknowledged risk factor for stroke, especially for acute effects. There is less support for effects by chronic exposure due to the methodological challenges inherent in such studies. READ MORE

    Author : Marcus Edstorp; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Arc Welding; Weld Pool; Multiphysics Simulations; Moving Boundaries; Free Surfaces; Mesh Motion; Two-Phase Flow; Incompressible Flow; Electromagnetics; Finite Element Methods; Applied mathematics; Tillämpad matematik; Manufacturing engineering; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik; Arc Welding; Weld Pool; Multiphysics Simulations; Moving Boundaries; Free Surfaces; Mesh Motion; Two-Phase Flow; Incompressible Flow; Electromagnetics; Finite Element Methods;

    Abstract : This investigation is devoted to the study of welding and its effect on the workpiece, focusing on the thermo and fluid dynamical phenomena occuring during a autogenous or nonautogenous arc fusion welding process. Its aim is to simulate the behaviour of the weld pool and analyze the consequence of the solid-liquid phase change, thus obtaining a methodology for predicting the appearance of weld defects related to solidification and cooling. 4. 14. Uncertainty Quantification and Numerical Methods for Conservation Laws

    Author : Per Pettersson; Jan Nordström; Gianluca Iaccarino; Gunilla Kreiss; Rémi Abgrall; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; uncertainty quantification; polynomial chaos; stochastic Galerkin methods; conservation laws; hyperbolic problems; finite difference methods; finite volume methods; Beräkningsvetenskap med inriktning mot numerisk analys; Scientific Computing with specialization in Numerical Analysis;

    Abstract : Conservation laws with uncertain initial and boundary conditions are approximated using a generalized polynomial chaos expansion approach where the solution is represented as a generalized Fourier series of stochastic basis functions, e.g. orthogonal polynomials or wavelets. 5. 15. Numerical stability studies of one-phase and immiscible two-phase jets and wakes

    Author : Outi Tammisola; Daniel Söderberg; Fredrik Lundell; Rama Govindarajan; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Abstract : The initial linear instability growth of two-dimensional plane wakes and jetsis investigated, by temporal two-dimensional global modes, and local spatialstability analysis. Comparisons are also made to experiments, direct numericalsimulations, and methods designed for weakly-non-parallel flows. READ MORE
