21. Fast-Neutron Tomography using a Mobile Neutron Generator for Assessment of Steam-Water Distributions in Two-Phase Flows
Abstract : This thesis describes the measurement technique of fast-neutron tomography for assessing spatial distributions of steam and water in two-phase flows. This so-called void distribution is of importance both for safe operation and for efficient use of the fuel in light water reactors, which compose the majority of the world’s commercial nuclear reactors. 22. PCR-based detection of microorganisms in complex biological samples
Abstract : The detection of microorganisms by PCR can be divided into four steps: (1) sample collection, (2) sample preparation, (3) DNA amplification and (4) detection of PCR products. The major problem in developing PCR-based detection methods is the sample preparation step. READ MORE

23. Hydrophobic Fusion Tags: Implications For Bioseparation and Cellular Expression
Abstract : The studies in this thesis have shown that the partitioning of endoglucanase I (EGI, Cel7B) from T. reesei could be significantly improved by relatively minor genetic engineering. By adding short peptides composed of tryptophan and proline residues to EGI, extreme partitioning could be obtained. READ MORE

24. Influence of Escherichia coli feedstock properties on the performance of primary protein purification
Abstract : Abstract The aim of the present study was to increase the understanding of how the cell surface properties affect the performance of unit operations used in primary protein purification. In particular, the purpose was to develop, set up and apply methods for studies of cell surface properties and cell interactions. READ MORE

25. HYDROPHOBIC PEPTIDE TAGS - As tools in bioseparation and investigation of recombinant proteins
Abstract : This thesis describes the possibility of using hydrophobic peptide tags as tools for bioseparation and for the investigation of recombinant proteins. The hydrophobicity of a protein can easily be changed by minor modifications, such as fusions of tyrosine-containing peptides. READ MORE
