  1. 1. Coordinating type III secretion system biogenesis in Yersinia pseudotuberculosis

    Author : Jyoti Mohan Gurung; Matthew S Francis; Maria Fällman; Dirk Linke; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Yersinia pseudotuberculosis; type III secretion system; YscX; YscY; YopN; TyeA; secretion signal; N-terminal region; site-directed mutagenesis; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Abstract : Various Gram-negative bacteria utilize type III secretion system (T3SS) to deliver effectors into eukaryotic host cells and establish mutualistic or pathogenic interactions. An example is the Ysc-Yop T3SS of pathogenic Yersinia species. READ MORE

  2. 2. Controlling substrate export by the Ysc-Yop type III secretion system in Yersinia

    Author : Ayad Amer; Matthew Francis; David L. Gally; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : Y. pseudotuberculosis; T3SS; YscX; YopD; assembly; translation control; temporal secretion.; mikrobiologi; Microbiology;

    Abstract : Several pathogenic Gram-negative bacteria invest in sophisticated type III secretion systems (T3SS) to incapacitate their eukaryotic hosts. T3SSs can secrete protein cargo outside the bacterial cell and also target many of them into the eukaryotic cell interior. READ MORE

  3. 3. Biogenesis, function and regulation of the type III secretion translocon of Yersinia pseudotuberculosis

    Author : Salah I. Farag; Matthew S Francis; Jörgen Johansson; Åke Forsberg; Luís Jaime Mota; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Yersinia pseudotuberculosis; type III secretion system; translocation; translocon; regulation; bacteria-eukaryotic cell contact; cytokine profiling;

    Abstract : Many Gram negative bacteria use type III secretion systems to cross-talk with eukaryotic cells. Type III secretion system assembly and function is tightly regulated. READ MORE

  4. 4. Multiple functions of YopN in the Yersinia pseudotuberculosis type III secretion system : from regulation to in vivo infection

    Author : Sarp Bamyaci; Åke Forsberg; Edouard Galyov; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Type III secretion system; Yersinia; YopN; virulence; phagocytosis; mouse infection; secretion kinetics;

    Abstract : The type 3 secretion systems (T3SSs) are virulence mechanisms used by various Gram-negative bacteria to overcome the host immunity. They are often target-cell contact induced and activated. Activation results in targeting of virulence effector substrates into host cells. READ MORE

  5. 5. Timing and targeting of Type III secretion translocation of virulence effectors in Yersinia

    Author : Sofie Ekestubbe; Åke Forsberg; Roland Rosqvist; Maria Fällman; Kurt Schesser; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Type III secretion system; virulence; translocation; Yersinia pseudotuberculosis; LcrV; YopN; effector targeting; phagocytosis inhibition; YopH; in vivo infection;

    Abstract : The Type III secretion system (T3SS) is an important virulence mechanism that allows pathogenic bacteria to translocate virulence effectors directly into the cytoplasm of eukaryotic host cells to manipulate the host cells in favor of the pathogen. Enteropathogenic Yersinia pseudotuberculosis use a T3SS to translocate effectors, Yops, that prevent phagocytosis by immune cells, and is largely dependent on it to establish and sustain an infection in the lymphoid tissues of a mammalian host.
