  1. 1. Radiation Induced Oxidative Dissolution of UO2

    Author : Ella Ekeroth; Mats Jonsson; Bernd Grambow; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; radiation; radiolysis; UO2; spent nuclear fuel; radicals; oxidants; reductants; rate constants; dissolution; H2O2; H2; Nuclear chemistry; Kärnkemi;

    Abstract : Sammanfattning Denna doktorsavhandling berör oxidativ upplösning av UO2 (som modellsubstans för utbränt kärnbränsle) orsakad av radiolys av vatten samt effekten av H2 på denna denna process. Hastighetskonstanter för oxidation av UO2-pulver med olika oxidanter såsom H2O2 har bestämts experimentellt. READ MORE

  2. 2. Development of Encapsulated UN-UO₂ Accident Tolerant Fuel

    Author : Diogo Ribeiro Costa; Pär Olsson; Janne Wallenius; Simon Middleburgh; Magnus Limbäck; Denise Adorno Lopes; Ho Jin Ryu; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Accident tolerant fuel; UN-UO2 composite fuel; coating technology; powder coating; chemical vapour deposition CVD ; physical vapour deposition PVD ; UN spheres; spark plasma sintering; Kärnenergiteknik; Nuclear Engineering;

    Abstract : Accident tolerant fuels (ATFs) are designed to endure a severe accident in the reactor core longer than the standard UO2-Zr alloy systems used in light water reactors (LWRs). Composite fuels such as UN-UO2 are being considered as an ATF concept to address the lower oxidation resistance of the UN fuel from a safety perspective for use in LWRs, whilst improving the in-reactor behaviour of the UO2 fuel. 3. 3. The effect of dissolved hydrogen on spent nuclear fuel corrosion

    Author : Patrik Fors; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; alpha-doped; Nuclear waste repository; Hydrogen; Solubility; Corrosion; UO2; MOX; Spent nuclear fuel; High burn-up; Groundwater;

    Abstract : In case of a canister failure in a deep bedrock repository for nuclear fuel, the release of radiotoxic nuclides to the groundwater will depend on the chemical environment near the fuel surface.Due to the presence of large amounts of iron in the canister, hydrogen will be formed if the canister becomes groundwater flooded. 5. 5. Physical and Chemical Aspects of Radiation Induced Oxidative Dissolution of UO2

    Author : Olivia Roth; Mats Jonsson; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; UO2; spent nuclear fuel; dissolution; oxidation; radiolysis; irradiation; particle size; modeling; Chemistry; Kemi;

    Abstract : Denna licensiatavhandling behandlar oxidativ upplösning av UO2. Upplösning av UO2 studeras huvudsakligen då UO2-matrisen hos använt kärnbränsle förväntas fungera som en barriär mot frigörande av radionuklider i ett framtida djupförvar. READ MORE
