  1. 1. Proton Relaxation Properties of a Particulate Iron Oxide MR Contrast Agent in Different Tissue Systems : Implications for Imaging

    Author : Atle Bjørnerud; Graham A. Wright; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Oncology; Iron oxide nanoparticles; USPIO; NC100150 Injection; water exchange limited relaxation; MR perfusion imaging.; Onkologi; Oncology; Onkologi; radiologi; Radiology;

    Abstract : Knowledge of the relationship between in vivo contrast agent concentration and magnetic resonance (MR) signal response is an important requirement in contrast enhanced MR imaging in general and in MR based perfusion imaging in particular. This relationship is a complex function of the properties of the contrast agent as well as the structure of the target tissue. READ MORE

  2. 2. Multimodal sentinel lymph node imaging using nanoscale-tailored particles; The importance of particle size

    Author : Pontus Kjellman; Lund Medicinsk strålningsfysik; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; multimodal contrast agent; USPIO; sentinel lymph node; in vivo; EL-4 tumor;

    Abstract : As a cancer grows it will, at a certain stage of disease progression, start spreading in the body. For several types of cancer this spreading will first occur through the lymphatic system and the first place where metastatic cell will be encountered is the first lymph node that drains the area where the tumor is located. 3. 3. Studies of Acute Rejection Using Contrast Agents and Magnetic Resonance Imaging

    Author : Eva Penno; Håkan Ahlström; Cecilia Johnsson; Lars Johansson; Peter Leander; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Radiology; Magnetic resonance imaging; contrast agents; organ transplantation; acute rejection; Radiologisk forskning;

    Abstract : Solid organ transplantation is today an established form of treatment for end-stage organ disease. Monitoring of graft function and pharmacological therapy constitutes a maze of clinical observations and histological evaluations of biopsy specimens; with the biopsy results playing a decisive role. 4. 4. The Utility of Ultrasmall Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide Contrast Agents for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance Imaging

    Author : Lars Johansson; Håkan Ahlström; Hans-Jørgen Smith; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Radiology; Magnetic resonance imaging; Contrast agent; Iron Oxide; Cardiovascular; Radiologisk forskning; Radiological research; Radiologisk forskning;

    Abstract : The purpose of this thesis was to investigate the utility of the Ultrasmall Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide Particle (USPIO), NC100150 Injection for assessment of macro- and microvascular morphology and function using magnetic resonance imaging. The feasibility of NC100150 Injection was tested for the following applications: Coronary angiography, Thrombus detection, Cardiac function, Myocardial perfusion, Assessment of myocardial blood volume and water exchange and finally assessment of endothelial integrity of the myocardium.
