  2. 2. The importance of major histocompatibility complex class II genes for the development of autoimmune inflammation

    University dissertation from Center for Molecular Biomedicine, Lund University

    Author : Ulrica Brunsberg; [1998]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; serology; Immunology; Mhc polymorphism arthritis evolution; Immunologi; serologi;

    Abstract : In this thesis the role of major histocompatibility complex (Mhc) class II molecules in development of autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), was studied. By combining an experimental model for RA, collagen type II induced arthritis (CIA), with molecular biology methods the importance of polymorphism in Mhc class II genes for disease development was investigated. 3. 3. Design of new biodegradable polymer matrices for controlled drug delivery

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Ulrica Edlund; [2000]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURAL SCIENCES Chemistry Organic chemistry Polymer chemistry; NATURVETENSKAP Kemi Organisk kemi Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : Conventional drug administration technologies display poorcontrollability, and lead to high plasma concentrations andshort duration times, which frequently lead to adverse effects.Controlled release technology aims at predictable andreproducible delivery of an active substance over an extendedperiod of time, yielding optimal response and prolongedefficiency, and thus offering considerable improvement of manytreatments.
