  1. 1. Platelet Inhibition and Bleeding in Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery

    Author : Ulrica Alström; Elisabeth Ståhle; Ulf Schött; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; bleeding; cardiac surgery; platelet inhibition; re-exploration; cost analysis; Anaesthetics and intensive care; Anestesiologi och intensivvård; Thoraxkirurgi; Thorax Surgery; Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care; Anestesiologi och intensivvård;

    Abstract : A substantial number of patients undergoing cardiac surgery are on dual anti-platelet treatment with clopidogrel and aspirin. A disadvantage with this treatment is increased risk of bleeding. Bleeding is a complication of major concern associated with adverse outcome for the patient and increased hospital resource utilization. READ MORE

  2. 2. Exploring the intersection of design, reflection and sustainable food shopping practices : The case of the EcoPanel

    Author : Ulrica Bohné; Cecilia Katzeff; Minna Räsänen; Teo Enlund; Pelle Ehn; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Design; reflection; sustainable food shopping practices; social practice theory; research through design; web application prototype; Människa-datorinteraktion; Human-computer Interaction;

    Abstract : Food production has been shown to have considerable negative impacts on the environment. A means to reduce this is to choose organic products when shopping for food. READ MORE

  3. 3. The importance of major histocompatibility complex class II genes for the development of autoimmune inflammation

    Author : Ulrica Brunsberg; Immunologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; transplantation; serology; Immunology; Mhc polymorphism arthritis evolution; Immunologi; serologi;

    Abstract : In this thesis the role of major histocompatibility complex (Mhc) class II molecules in development of autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), was studied. By combining an experimental model for RA, collagen type II induced arthritis (CIA), with molecular biology methods the importance of polymorphism in Mhc class II genes for disease development was investigated. 4. 4. Design of new biodegradable polymer matrices for controlled drug delivery

    Author : Ulrica Edlund; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Polymer chemistry; Polymerkemi;

    Abstract : Conventional drug administration technologies display poorcontrollability, and lead to high plasma concentrations andshort duration times, which frequently lead to adverse effects.Controlled release technology aims at predictable andreproducible delivery of an active substance over an extendedperiod of time, yielding optimal response and prolongedefficiency, and thus offering considerable improvement of manytreatments. 5. 5. Pulmonary complications after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation

    Author : Ulrica Forslöw; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The respiratory tract is one of the most common and serious sites for complications in HSCT patients. In this project the incidence, outcome, and risk factors for patients with infectious or non-infectious pulmonary complications were studied. Bronchoscopy and pulmonary function tests (PFTs) were evaluated as diagnostic tools. READ MORE
