  1. 11. Identification of genes that regulate arthritis and IgE production in rat and human

    Author : Ulrica Ribbhammar; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : RA; experimental animal model; QTL; congenic strain; APLEC; asthma; total IgE;

    Abstract : Multiple genome-wide scans have identified quantitative trait loci (QTLs) that influence inflammatory diseases on chromosome 4q42 in DA rats. Several of the QTLs overlap with the QTL designated Oia2 (Oil-induced arthritis-2), which was originally identified in a genomewide linkage analysis in oil-induced arthritis (OIA), a model that shows similarities to rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in human. Studies using quantitative method (I, II) and qualitative method (III, IV) were performed. READ MORE

  4. 14. Hedgehog signaling in rhabdomyosarcoma : role of GLI factors and splice variants in signal transduction

    Author : Ulrica Tostar; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS) is the most common soft-tissue childhood cancer. Deregulation of the Hedgehog (HH) signaling pathway, which is essential for proper embryonic development, has been implicated as a driving force for this cancer. READ MORE

  5. 15. DNA repair by HDR in experimental tumorigenesis

    Author : Ulrica Westermark; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to further understand how defects in the homology-directed repair (HDR) pathway affect tumor formation and development. To study proteins involved in HDR is challenging since most of its members are required for cell viability. READ MORE
