  1. 1. Equality, Uniqueness, Renewal : Conversations to Reimagine Pedagogical Action, with Jacques Rancière and Adriana Cavarero

    Author : Cathrine Ryther; Agnieszka Bron; Maarten Simons; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; philosophy of education; educational foundations; limits of education; pedagogical action; renewal; conversation; equality; uniqueness; freedom; Jacques Rancière; Adriana Cavarero; Wilhelm Sjöstrand; pedagogik; Education;

    Abstract : Sjöstrand (1970a) called the relation between equality and freedom a fundamental pedagogical problem because it shapes assumptions about how pedagogical action affects renewal—or, the issue of human becoming in an always already populated context. In this dissertation I reimagine Sjöstrand’s pedagogical problem, replacing the terms of equality and freedom with Rancière’s concept of equality and Cavarero’s concept of uniqueness, in order to consider the consequences for (a) the connection between pedagogical action and renewal, and (b) the image(s) of renewal that pedagogical action might prioritize. 2. 2. Human Rights Learning : The Significance of Narratives, Relationality and Uniqueness

    Author : Rebecca Adami; Sharon Todd; Agnieszka Bron; David T. Hansen; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; human rights; narratives; relationality; uniqueness; Hannah Arendt; Adriana Cavarero; Sharon Todd; pedagogik med inriktning mot utbildningsvetenskap; Educational Science;

    Abstract : Whereas educational policy is mainly concerned with the content of Human Rights Education (HRE), philosophers of education have widely explored the subject and her social condition in terms of social justice education. This thesis draws on philosophers of education in exploring the subject rather than the content of HRE, focusing the study on ontological rather than epistemological aspects of learning. READ MORE

  3. 3. Tales of uniqueness : Value creation in rural tourism development

    Author : Manuela Kronen; Institutionen för tjänstevetenskap; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; value creation; rural tourism development; authenticity; uniqueness; LEADER-method;

    Abstract : The aim of this dissertation is to analyse value creation in a rural tourism development project. In order to analyse value creation, I investigate how participants of a rural tourism development project define and understand uniqueness of that particular rural area as a lever to developing a touristic offer. 4. 4. Regularity and uniqueness-related properties of solutions with respect to locally integrable structures

    Author : Abtin Daghighi; Egmont Porten; Christer Kiselman; Stefan Borell; Jürgen Leiterer; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Maximum principle; hypocomplexity; locally integrable structure; hypoanalytic structure; weak pseudoconcavity; uniqueness; CR functions;

    Abstract : We prove that a smooth generic embedded CR submanifold of C^n obeys the maximum principle for continuous CR functions if and only if it is weakly 1-concave. The proof of the maximum principle in the original manuscript has later been generalized to embedded weakly q-concave CR submanifolds of certain complex manifolds. READ MORE
