  1. 1. His Name Immortal : Five Studies in the Sacred Music of Johann Baptist Wanhal

    Author : Halvor K. Hosar; Allan Badley; W. Dean Sutcliffe; Alan Maddox; Jane Hettrick; Nancy November; The University of Auckland; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES;

    Abstract : This thesis comprises five studies of the sacred music of Johann Baptist Wanhal (1739–1813), and his masses in particular. A review of the historical records reveals that his sacred music was highly regarded by those who knew it – without the caveats that were sometimes attached to his secular music – and that a number of details in his biography need to be revised, the most important of which concern the likely date of his move to Vienna and the consequences this has on the chronology of his early compositions. 2. 2. Assessment of attenuation correction methods for quantitative neuro-PET/MR

    Author : Joao M. Sousa; Mark Lubberink; Lieuwe Appel; Håkan Ahlström; Mathias Engström; Ivo Rausch; Radiologi Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PET; MRI; attenuation correction; 68Ge transmission; quantification; 11C-PE2I; MRAC; DAT; CBF; Medicinsk radiofysik; Medical Radiophysics;

    Abstract : Hybrid PET/magnetic resonance (MR) can provide physiological, functional, and structural information simultaneously, facilitating research in neurological disorders. For quantitative PET, correction for photon attenuation (AC) is necessary. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mechanical properties of sound and of deteriorated softwood at different length scales : Poromicromechanical modeling and experimental investigations

    Author : Thomas K. Bader; Karin Hofstetter; Kristofer Gamstedt; Austria Vienna University of Technology; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Byggteknik; Civil engineering; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Abstract : Due to its natural origin and its inherent heterogeneities, mechanical properties of wood are highly anisotropic and show a broad variability, not only between different wood species, but also within a tree. Similar to other biological materials, the wood mi- crostructure is well organized and hierarchically structured from the annual rings visible to the naked eye down to the wood polymers cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin at the nanometer-scale. 4. 4. Investigations on the Serviceability Limit State of Dowel-Type Timber Connections

    Author : Michael Dorn; de Borst Karin; Vienna University of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; timber engineering; dowel-type connection; experiments; simualations; Servieability Limit State; contact behavior; Byggteknik; Civil engineering;

    Abstract : Dowel-type steel-to-timber connections are commonly used to transfer a large range of loads. Although they are simple to produce and assemble, the load-carrying behavior and the local stress and strain distribution within the connection area are highly complex. READ MORE

  5. 5. Nonlinear modeling of reinforced dowel joints in timber structures : a combined experimental-numerical study

    Author : Michael Schweigler; Josef Eberhardsteiner; Thomas K. Bader; Thierry Descamps; Vienna University of Technology; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Technology byts ev till Engineering ; Teknik; Byggteknik; Civil engineering; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Abstract : Steel dowels are indispensable elements for the design of joints in modern timber structures. Dowels are broadly used because of their flexibility in design and easy assembling on-site, as well as due to their advantageous mechanical behavior. READ MORE
