  1. 1. Unstable coronary artery disease : Studies on inflammation, infection, hemostasis, and the effects of low-molecular-mass heparin treatment

    Author : Henrik Toss; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Medical sciences; unstable angina; myocardial infarction; prognosis; inflammation; hemostasis; fibrinolysis; resistance to activated protein C. low-molecular-mass heparin; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; Medicine; medicin;

    Abstract : The occurrence and prognostic importance, of inflammatory activity, signs of Chlamydia pneumoniae infection. APC resistance, hemostasis, and the effects of low-molecular-mass heparin (LMMH) was evaluated in patients with unstable coronary artery disease (UCAD). READ MORE

  2. 2. Unstable coronary artery disease : non-invasive indicators of severity of coronary lesions and the effects of thrombolysis

    Author : Jan-Erik Karlsson; Rolf Nordlander; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICINE; MEDICIN;

    Abstract : Non-invasive indicators of severity of coronary lesions and the effects of thrombolysis were evaluated in 205 men, 38 to 70 years of age with unstable coronary aticty disease (CAD)- i.e. unstable angina or non-Q wave myocardial infarction - admitted to the coronary care units in nine hospitals. 3. 3. Early Invasive Strategy in Unstable Coronary Artery Disease : Outcome in Relation to Risk Stratification

    Author : Erik Diderholm; Lars Grip; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Medical sciences; Unstable angina; non-ST elevation myocardial infarction; risk stratification; coronary angiography; revascularisation; MEDICIN OCH VÅRD; MEDICINE; MEDICIN; kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Abstract : In unstable coronary artery disease (CAD) it still is a matter of debate which patients should undergo early revascularisation. In the FRISC II study (n=2457) an early invasive strategy was, compared to a primarily non-invasive strategy, associated with reduced mortality and myocardial infarction (MI) rates. READ MORE

  4. 4. Lipoprotein lipase-unstable on purpose?

    Author : Liyan Zhang; Gunilla Olivecrona; Cecilia Holm; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : Biochemistry; Lipoprotein lipase; Apolipoprotein CII; dimerization; monomerization; Molecular chaperones; Biokemi;

    Abstract : Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is a central enzyme in lipid metabolism. It is a non-covalent, homodimeric and N-glycosylated protein, which is regulated in a tissue-specific manner and is dependent on an activator protein, apolipoprotein CII. Dissociation of active LPL dimers to monomers leads to loss of activity. READ MORE
